Both DCS: Black Shark and LOFM2 are on there way from eBay sellers. They are supposed to be new and in sealed boxes. I want to verify that each serial number has 8 activations and 10 deactivation's.

Every time you activate, the dialogue will show you the remaining number of activations.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Thanks Sobek but I was just looking for a way to view each serial number without installing. I could be mistaken but I thought someone else from ED had posted a Starforce link so you can see how many Activations and Deactivation's are on the serial number. :)

Sorry, i have not seen any such services. The only option that I'm aware of is to activate.

However, keep in mind - FC2/DCS is not limitied to a *finite* number of activations. Check the rest of this forum and you'll see people getting new series of activations as soon as they have spent their first series.

So normally you shouldn't have to worry about this.

Unless there are other problems attached to the serial/copy you bought.

Thanks Panzer you're the best but like I said I don't like to abuse the system. Besides both of these games I bought on eBay. :pilotfly:

Btw I sent Star-Force an email and asked them the same question. I'll post an update if they reply. :)

You can safely buy a "new seconds hand copy" even if it has 0 activations / deactivations.

You'll just have to contact support either here or via email, get a new set of activations - and you'll be good to go.

The only danger which you have no control over, is that the former owner has abused the serial or not - thats the only risk you're running. :)

Oh, and counterfeith numbers - I forgot about that. But I haven't heard about any such issues with FC2/DCS.

No sorry, as I said - I dont know about any services where I can check them. So I can't check them for you (not working at ED, see).

But you can try using email to support@eagle.ru instead.

I'm not sure what kind of response you'll get regarding the check vs activations. But it's worth a shot.

OK i'll give it a try. Both the eBay sellers are Trusted Sellers so I trust it's no scam because recently I got scammed on ebay and I had to open a fraud claim with eBay.

Wow, Star-Force is as quick as ED getting back to you !

Here's their reply:

Hi Rodney,

You may enter your serial number here http://proactive.star-force.com/2.0/activate.php and click "Serial number parameters" hyperlink to see serial number details.

Thank you!

Well I received both Black Shark (New) and Flaming Cliffs 2 (New)from both ebay sellers. I used the Star-Force website and Flaming Cliffs 2 has 0/8 Activations.

OTOH Black Shark has 1/8 Activations and was activated on 4/29/10 and it even includes the time of activation and IP address and HW configuration. I contacted the ebay seller for either an exchange or refund. I feel uneasy that whoever activated Black Shark prior to me receiving it today might have the serial number written down for future use. :(
