aap_flanker Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Does this mod work on all dusk trails? Can you make this just for the aircraft landing? If you are talking about the "smoke-dust for desert mod", this is made for spooks2k1, because he is looking for a more like desert somke... asking to your question, this file works for ground vehicles when are off-road, and for the landing of aircrafts. In the mod details I mention that the bad thing of use these specific type of smoke (that one chosen by spooks2k1) is when an aircraft land the smoke cloud it's too big. ps: here is the original mod ->>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1110482&postcount=17 Intel i5 11700F + H80 | 4x4GB 3200mhz RAM | AORUS ELITE B560M | Samsung 850 PRO SSD 256gb| KINGSTON SA400 480GB SSD | WD 500GB | Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB | Antec 1200 PSU | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and homemade panels and rudder pedals | 24" Samsung T24C550 @60Hz 2ms | Opentrack 3 led clip
spooks2k1 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 spooks2k1 Well here is what you were looking for.... only install with modman 7.3 good luck! aap Thanks aap_flanker +1 rep for your efforts. On it's own the effect is too much for the vehicles as the smoke doesn't dissipate and trail behind the vehicles. Maybe this has something to do with the ground speed of the vehicle? spooks

Maybe this has something to do with the ground speed of the vehicle? spooks maybe must search for another smoke that fits better to a desert terrain..... I don't know or if it's possible to edit the .x files Intel i5 11700F + H80 | 4x4GB 3200mhz RAM | AORUS ELITE B560M | Samsung 850 PRO SSD 256gb| KINGSTON SA400 480GB SSD | WD 500GB | Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB | Antec 1200 PSU | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and homemade panels and rudder pedals | 24" Samsung T24C550 @60Hz 2ms | Opentrack 3 led clip
jotaele Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Wow, i have to try this, thx for the effort. I have found this because i was looking for it, due that i really think that stock effect its really ugly, from distance vehiclees offroad looks unrealistic, ED should put some work on this. Fly and let fly
Kuky Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Finally I found the file that "generates" the effect of smoke during touchdown: Folder: C:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Bazar\Effects\Explode\SmokeOneGray\High File name: SmokeOneGray.x I try editing the first line (change 0303 by 0101) but the effect wont work, so I back to the backup file.... I can't understand anything inside this file, I think that it's encrypted (?) So I take the easy way, I raplaced this file with another that was renamed (take from folder : C:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Bazar\Effects\Explode\SmokeOneWhite\High) In the screenshots you can see the change... I'm not 100% happy with it, but just only because I have noticed that the smoke width is smaller than the vehicles... Anyway I will use this one, I think that except for this minimal detail, this looks better and looks more real... So take your own conclutions. I attach some print screens (the after and the before) and the file to change it is a ModMan 7.3 package. Regards Ar Nice find... I like it... I tried it in DCS A-10C and it works there too  PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
213 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 this is good for the gear touch down effect, however for off road vehicles it doesn't look very natural. it looks like excessively large exhaust fume rather than dirt/dust being kicked up. on green terrain of black sea map, this is especially incongruous. perhaps ed will find it fitting to separate the the landing gear touchdown effect from the vehicle dust trail effect. thank you
