aap_flanker Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) Hi everybody! Does someone know how to change the colour of the smoke that produces the vehicles when are off-road??? I've noticed that is the same colour of burning tires during the touchdown after the landing of the aircrafts... And I think that it doesn't look real, because when tires burns make a white or light-grey colour and in the game it is green-grey colour that looks too much "artificial".... - I'm using lofc 1.12b - - now using FC2.1 whatever anything will be apreciated... AAP Edited February 20, 2011 by aap_flanker Intel i5 11700F + H80 | 4x4GB 3200mhz RAM | AORUS ELITE B560M | Samsung 850 PRO SSD 256gb| KINGSTON SA400 480GB SSD | WD 500GB | Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB | Antec 1200 PSU | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and homemade panels and rudder pedals | 24" Samsung T24C550 @60Hz 2ms | Opentrack 3 led clip

Boberro Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 have you checked all txt cfg files in bazar folder? There are plenty of them - they consist many configuration options regarding to colors example. Soon, I'll check that. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

Boberro Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) Honestly I forgot about you, but I checked fast and hope it'll help a bit. Look here: \Bazar\Effects\SmokeTail\High There you have various configs for smokes (open it and there is COLOR section)... Ground smoke, while hovering close to ground is located in PFX folder. I know it is animation - don't know if they don't have color indexes inside PFX file without any external which would forced color. Files names say various things, it is worth to check every of them. Look that in every folder you have various files. Often they don't have TXT or CFG extension but they consist text... you can check these files and see what they have inside. aap_flanker Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 I have bought FC2.1 and still have the same ugly smoke.... :S Does anybody tryed to improve this detail????? congo Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I would be interested in the fix for this also as the green road dust looks very un-natural.
Boberro Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I don't think PFX files are moddable... I do believe they consist effects (bomb white blast, smoke, hover smoke ect) cause when I removed one of file I didn't see that effect anymore :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
aaron886 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I'm pretty sure they can set a diffuse color as well... like the color of the dust. I'm not entirely sure how, I'd have to fiddle around, but it's not unreasonable.
congo Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I for the life of me can't figure out why they made the dust the rotor kicks up near the ground a nice light brown and then made the dust the ground vehicles kick up a shade of gray/green seems like it is all the same dust n'est pas. And if its suppose to be exhaust I think it is still not right, just my 2 cents. aaron 886 if you find the solution please let us know.

aaron886 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 IMO, problem is just finding the file itself. I wouldn't know which file is used for the dust effect.
Boberro Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Look at \Bazar\Effects\PFX\high, example smokecloud.pfx. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

If we have to live with only 1 effect for this 2 conditions (ground vehicles and wheels touchdouwn) I think that the best option is have a intermediate colour like this: white but a bit darker What do you think??? Boberro Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Well smoke effect should be more transparent and thinner too IMHO ;] Picture above has nice color of smoke ^^ Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. aap_flanker Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 Finally I found the file that "generates" the effect of smoke during touchdown: Folder: C:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Bazar\Effects\Explode\SmokeOneGray\High File name: SmokeOneGray.x I try editing the first line (change 0303 by 0101) but the effect wont work, so I back to the backup file.... I can't understand anything inside this file, I think that it's encrypted (?) So I take the easy way, I raplaced this file with another that was renamed (take from folder : C:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Bazar\Effects\Explode\SmokeOneWhite\High) In the screenshots you can see the change... I'm not 100% happy with it, but just only because I have noticed that the smoke width is smaller than the vehicles... Anyway I will use this one, I think that except for this minimal detail, this looks better and looks more real... So take your own conclutions. I attach some print screens (the after and the before) and the file to change it is a ModMan 7.3 package. Boberro Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Oooooo I always been thinking about smokecloud.pfx ect files but it seems smoke was in other location.... thanks :D As far I know X file format belongs to DirectX. In the file you have: xof 0303bzip0032 It means IIRC compressed binary Edited February 20, 2011 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... spooks2k1 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great find! Tanks can emit real-ish dust now. Do you guys know where this smoke is located ? It's the smoke that's kicked up when the plane skims just above the ground, It's perfect for desert terrain/ maps, your mod helps but this would be kick ass awesome :D I've tried all the .x files but it doesn't seem to be there.
aap_flanker Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 spooks2k1: the smoke generated by ground vehicles is the same used for the landing of aircrafts... so, you can use this smoke that you are showing but when you land with an aircraft it will appear this smoke.... I'd preffer to improve the smoke of touchdown more than the dust of ground vehicles. PS: I will search the file for this smoke and let you know regards aap Intel i5 11700F + H80 | 4x4GB 3200mhz RAM | AORUS ELITE B560M | Samsung 850 PRO SSD 256gb| KINGSTON SA400 480GB SSD | WD 500GB | Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB | Antec 1200 PSU | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and homemade panels and rudder pedals | 24" Samsung T24C550 @60Hz 2ms | Opentrack 3 led clip
spooks2k1 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I agree for general use, but this is specific for desert terrain, it just looks absolutely perfect. Thanks for looking I couldn't find it anywhere, good luck.
