LO;FC1 game shuts down...need to reinstall..question on patches

I haven't played LO with FC1 in a while and tried to play the other day and got an error message saying it could not find my "view.dll" file. Since I backed up the installation on a remote disk, I took this file and copied it to my installed copy on my hard drive.

I still cannot start the game as now I get an error message saying it the program is bieng shut down and to inform MS of the error and they will look into it...yeah right...

Anyway, I guess I have to reinstall the game unless someone has a walk around....

If I do install what patches do I need and in what order to I install them.

I have a CD version of LO (I am assuming it is 1.0.0.1) and will have a downloaded version of LO:FC1.

I remember when I first did this it was very confusing going through the patches to figure out which one was right and in what order.

Hi Jack, hehehe..

Here's the link to the FC1 installation sticky. It lays out the installation proceedure in detail but it's basically - LOMAC 1.0 then FC1 download version then FC1.12b patch download version. (Make sure it's the right region as well Euro or NA)

You can also think about upgrading to FC2 now which you can download and all you need is the LOMAC 1.0 then FC2 and the new patch. It's a significant step up from FC1 (Which was great too)

Thanks Sarge...

I will go to FC2,,but are the stock missions and campaigns from FC1 in FC2. I do not want to lose any of them if I don't have FC1

Ah, there's the rub. I'm afraid not. Different theaters of operations, FC2 and DCS Blackshark are now multiplayer compatible so they have to operate on the same map. LOMAC and FC1 takes place in the Crimea and FC2 and Blackshark is in Georgia (there is some overlap).

But you can still have both on your computer. As a matter of fact once FC2 is up and running you can uninstall LOMAC 1.0. FC2 only needs to check if LOMAC is present during the install (some kind of licencing agreement I beleive)

FC2 has new missions and campaigns (not as many as FC1 has) but they'll come. I know what you mean though, I downloaded all of the missions from JPM for the Su-25 in FC1 and had many hours of fun.
