104th_Crunch Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 In short we need ED to provide the means and we have the people that have the know how.:) right now we are stuck. Hopefully DCS will someday and can be the FSX of combat sims :)
rattler Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hopefully DCS will someday and can be the FSX of combat sims :) DCS is at the moment and I am sure will. The only problem I have with the series is how long it takes to get a module done. At the rate it is being done some of us will be to old to enjoy the benefits. That said, it does take time to delivery such quality and detail of the cockpit alone. Some one mentioned a few days ago, why not do 3D pits for FC2.0 but none clickable and make it so 3rd persons could model cockpits in 3D for newer modded a/c or existing ones. Reason being said that Fc2.0 is at the end of its life cycle. This is a missed opportunity for ED IMHO. Instead of think that it is the end, think of it as a portion of the DCS-BS series. One that has a great following and could create even more. 2 viable products instead of one. Surely it would not take that much time away from the DCS-BS series to do just that. Remember to look at Fc2.0 not as the end but a continued portion of a great Combat flight sim. series. one supporting the other.:(
MadMaxter Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 Hopefully DCS will someday and can be the FSX of combat sims :) I am hoping for them to be the X-plane of modern combatsims. X-plane recognizes the need for open source and as a result, a plugin for exports using Blender have emerged. That kind of treatment would be the best thing ED could do for the community. And ultimately, themselves. DCS and FC2 sales would go through the roof if outsiders got whiff of that kind of modability. As for this project though. We may have just enough to get a decent mod with a working cockpit. Still too early to tell. Lack of an SDK makes the process fun.... not. lol Max [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Proud founder of VNAO and current deck jockey with VFA-103:pilotfly::pilotfly:

Moa Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I think people who are used to big birds with reheat and gas to spare will be shocked at these aircraft. You really will need proper gunzo tactics rather than turn hard and whack afterburner on. Plus, they run out of gas pretty quick. It's good they won't have missiles so it'll stay gunzo. If the mod is a success (fingers crossed) it'd be great to add the Vampire (w00t!) and Mystere. That'd probably be enough to cover just about every Air Force in the world at that time.
