Best Grafic Card for DCS A-10C

Which graphics card is preferable for the Sims series DCS?

(In particular DCS A-10C)

N-Vidia or ATI?

Exploit DiretX 11?

Unless they upgrade the engine, it will be using DX9, like DCSBS.

 

ATI cards had some problems with the menus (all of which have very quick fixes, should you be so unfortunate to encounter them, which would be rare), but otherwise played flawlessly.

I'm a major advocate for ATi cards.

 

Anything in the current two generations of cards should run it wonderfully.

For DCS series, motherboard and the processors are more important than the graphic card...

I am running with a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 512Mb.

I have two sreens for the the camera view and the shvalk. Graphics maxi and all is running very fluently...

Running DCS:Black Shark on E7400, 3GB DDR2 and single GF 8800 GTX on 5040 x 1050 (TripleHead2Go), high details smoothly without any problems. Was expected to buy another 8800 GTX to get SLI, however single GTX handles game great.

As everyone above states, the CPU, motherboard and ram is faaar more important than the gfx card.

If you have the latest gen CPU then I'd recommend an Ati and as always, get the best one you could afford.

I'm running a i7 920 with 6gb of RAM and oc'ed to 3.5ghz and a ATI HD 5850. Does anyone know if it might have any problems running DCS in 5760 x 1200 (Eyefinity)?

I had a GT8800 and recently changed to a Geforce GTX 470 and I can confirm and agree with everyone else that for these sims the GPU that most users have will not be the limiting factor. Yes I get to have everything maxed out and its very smooth, but I didnt see any difference in the issues that really bothered me before the GPU switch for FC2 and BS, the performance issues I had before are still there, so its definately CPU/RAM/MB dependant for most users, for me it definately is.

 

I dont know about the warthog though, it seems to have some new effects.. See GAs teaser :)

HDR ! is apparent in A-10, this will change this debate to some degree. best advice i could give is wait untill its released and then ask the question again. Going with a current top end card should never be an issue and prove a worth while decision.

Yes I was thinking about HDR, so finally I can get some use for the gtx 470 :D Yeah I agree waiting is best since its not out yet and the prices will be better by the time its out.
