Get Vista or Win7 64bit, a fast processor, fast board and fast RAM. Graphics card for BlackShark is not that important, unless you are going to use multiple monitors. For BlackShark it doesn't make a big difference between dual- and quad-core AFAIK.

Always get a 64-bit operating system. The reason is because of RAM. With a 32-bit system you can only address a certain range of address space. For physical memory the limit is 4GB for 32-bit Windows 7 and 192GB for 64-bit Windows 7. Virtual memory address space is a little larger for both but sucks performance wise. You'll also want a minimum of 4GB of RAM but 8GB is better so none of your memory gets paged to disk and kills performance.

I got mine from here about a year and a half ago...

www.Cyberpowerpc.com

I'm not sure if they deliver outside the US though.

At the time, I was really wanting an i7 machine, but building one myself was out of my budget. Was able to get one from there for under $1k and slowly upgraded as cash became avalible.

To be honest, I find that memory speed is of pretty much zero consequense. Clocking my own memory between it's stock 800MHz and 1092MHz makes no statistically certain difference whatsoever. (EDIT for clarity: in DCS:BS and FC2, have not tested with mainstream shooters and the like.)

Good board is more important there, in my opinion, especially if using older chipsets (775 etc). Newer chipsets aren't as highly impacted by motherboard quality since memory controller and sometimes even PCIe controller is integrated into the CPU, making the CPU all the more important at the "expense" of the mobo.

Definitely agreerd on GPU though. 9800 or equivalent is all you need to run at 16x MSAA and AF without impacting your FPS.
