I currently have a i7 920 clocked to 4.0ghz, and a ATI HD5850. I really want to set up a 3 monitor 1920x1200 Eyefinity setup for DCS A-10, but I'm not sure my card will have the horsepower to power that many pixels (5760x1200?)

I'm thinking of getting another HD5850 and running the two cards in Crossfire mode, but I've heard that people aren't getting problematic, or aren't getting the best results.

Has anyone tried this, and have any comments or suggestions?

Thanks.

I've got the same spec CPU as yours and I run 6024 x 1200 on three Dell 2410 monitors, using an ATI HD5970. (ie the equivalent of two 5840s) and in both FC2 and BS get frame rates averaging 50.

That is not the problem, what is though is getting the "head" postion correct for the FOV. Hard to explain but certainly in FC and FC2 when you zoom back from the default view (which is far too close) and you pan your head around, it runs on an inclined plane such that you can not see down when you are looking out to the wings. Strange.

I have succeeded with altering some of the view settings and have got it to work satisfactorily in the instant flight but you have to make the same changes to each mission view.lua to get them to work correctly. A real pain.

I have posted on the subject before so use the search and you should find it.

I am the same as Loz, ~6000x1200 and no problems except I am using a 5970 same as he is so it's a big up on a 5850.

I read a-10 will support eyefinity which is good because BS was a pain to get working and second time around installing it I couldnt be bothered so I use skval, abris+camera.

They are a bit too big on the 24's though...

No

We are both using the HD5970, a single card with two GPUs and they are running in Crossfire.

I'd recommend scoping out the Wide Screen Gaming forum postings on this. As I recall, there was discussion of crossfire use on high pixel count Eyefinity setups as being problematic. (talking crossfire on 2 discrete 58xx cards here, not a 5970). Problematic, as in picture framing. The theory was that the crossfire connector between the cards was not capable of handling the needed bandwidth.

I haven't been following it, so there may be new information now.

Good luck with it!

That, plus a single flat screen doesn't bend around you, or lend itself to physical separation for different portions of the cockpit panels.
