Hallo.

Will the AI be upgraded for A-10C?

Im thinking in terms of missions. I understand that there will properly be some WW3 or cold war scenarios where you have to kill alot of tanks etc. But will there also be low intensity missions like the current ones in Iraq and Afghanistan? Where you will fly CAS missions using FAC's and JTAC's etc.

It could be cool if there was a AI system inplace that could guide you into a strafing run on some insurgents and talk to you. Can ground forces lase targets for you so you can use your sensors(ie. pave penny ex.) to detect your targets etc. Or even no lasing so you really have to trust the FAC to give you right cordinates not to strafe your own units in close proximity.

I feel that A-10C wont really be complete without this kind of capability in the simulation. Since today i guess the A-10's are used alot for on call CAS that ground units can rely on.

Or will we only be flying pre planned sorties against pre planned targets?

A AI system where the FAC's would talk to you and you could talk to them(like you do wingmen now) would really lift the experience. I read up in one of the miltary manuals on this forum how the whole CAS stuff is playing out with the ground forces issuing a request and how the A-10 is then handed off from a airborne controler to the man on the ground to guide him in etc.

It shouldnt be much different from the system in FS2004(latest one ive played) where your handed off from tower to tower as you go into different airspaces or are given headings and holding patterns when you approch or stuff in general when in a busy airspace.

Thanks for any info.

Arma 2 is cool.

But i cant go back to anything less then DCS:BS now that ive tried it. Everything else just feels shallow.

Playing FC2 is just silly now. But yes ive seen some videos of how the soldiers on the ground can use the laser to mark targets for planes in the air on youtube in Arma2. Its a really great implementation. Must be alot of fun in multiplayer with some organized teams playing each other.

Lio, we in the War Hawks are already practicing joint A-10 & Ka-50 joint operations with both airframes playing in the CAS role and the attack role. I can assure you that FC2 is anything but silly when trying to fly a strike mission directed by one or more HFAC's down in the weeds looking for targets that are pretty well hidden in the trees while trying to avoid the AA and missiles. It is heart-thumping excitement and hard work!!

I am sure Ed will do a lot to try to improve the AI for DCS-A-10C but I think anything AI-related will able to be improved upon in the dynamic CAS mission roles in multi-player mode. It takes good human-to-human interaction to make this type mission come alive. :)
