Low priority: loss of control/keyboard/sound, but sim still going until I crash

This is probably a very borderline issue with 1.1 that won't affect many people, but I'm mentioning it just for the record in case others meet it and we track down a common cause.

 

I enjoy flying around in an Su-27 pushing the flight model to its limits. Twice this morning, while messing about with split engines for the first time (each engine on separate axis), I've had the sound suddenly cut out.

 

That's the first thing I notice anyway. At the same time the keyboard goes dead (can't light up/turn off capslock etc) and all controller input is ignored. The aircraft keeps flying (using the last recorded controller inputs) until it reaches the ground. LOMAC then freezes, with the view still in the cockpit, staring at the ground. I imagine the next thing that would normally happen is the view would switch to the external explosion.

 

The computer is frozen at this point, ignoring all input (including CTRL, ALT, DELETE) until I reset.

 

This only happened twice in about two hours, so it will be hard to work out exactly what combination of events is causing it. But I've never had it happen before in many hours of 1.1 flying, so I'm fairly sure it will be something to do with split throttle inputs, which I doubt is a common way of flying.

This morning I have spent another two hours flying exactly the same mission (just me and some towers to fly around, no other aircraft or vehicles) and I have not had any problems.

 

I was hoping to be able to add some more information to help track down the problem I had yesterday, but maybe the problem is my PC and not LOMAC. I will fly some more later today to try to understand what is happening.

 

For the record:-

 

PC:

AMD Mobile Barton 2.16GHz (166x13 for 100% Prime95 stability)

1Gb Corsair XMS memory

DFI Ultra Infinity motherboard, rev A (nForce 2)

Onboard sound (Nvidia SoundStorm with Realtek ALC650 CODEC)

 

Controllers:

1) CH Fighterstick... for normal joystick use.

2) Saitek X45... for rudder & thrust (both engines)

3) Logitech MOMO wheel & pedals. Normally not used. Pedals currently used for left & right thrust.
