Spades_Neil Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) 1st Trailer - 2nd Trailer - WANTED: Voice actors! Send me a PM if you're interested. Preferably those who can do a decent Russian accent, or those who can speak both Russian and English, but I'm also going to need some NATO actors too! So anyone who thinks they can do a decent bit of acting, send me some PMs! "The Wolf Pack" is a campaign where you play as a mercenary flying for the Russian Air Force in an Su-33. I'm hoping for this to become a very large long-term project for myself and anyone in the Lock On community who wants to join in! While as many of you know, I drop by on a regular basis to complain about some stupid glitch I've found (because I just have that rubbish kind of luck :P). However, don't get me wrong. No game is perfect. Every game has its glitches. After the first patch came out for FC2, the use I got out of it compared to FC1 absolutely skyrocketed! I was really mad about the initial release, but the patch repaired at least 80% of my troubles, the other 20 I can overlook. I decided to try to use my resources to their full potential. The trigger system allows me to create missions I'd never have dreamed of in FC1, from simple dogfights to deadly gauntlets. In addition, I've been trying to use voice acting to the best of my ability, using Audacity to edit sounds to add in radio effects and background noise. But here's what I've got so far. It's going to be a very interactive and hopefully long campaign. Plus a few Easter eggs now and then referencing things I like such as Ace Combat, Top Gun, and even a couple videos I've done! I have a total of three characters so far that have had voice acting parts in this. Voice actors so far... Col. Voyla - Your commander and director for probably the entire campaign. Boris Ruslan - Callsign "Pegas", Boris is the pilot of your tanker plane. Lt. Graviil - KA-50 pilot who is introduced by the 3rd mission. Ian Sokolov - Played by my buddy "Sam", a Tu-142 crew member originally employed by the air force on a research grant to perform high altitude tests. Now that the war has begun, he has been reassigned to a Tu-95 and given the task of cruise missile strikes. Capt. Sergejevich - Charismatic and honorable captain of the Admiral Kuznetsov. Planned voice parts include... Spades - Me, of course, and I'll be making an appearance in a later part of the series. :P Sam - Sam playing himself, both of us referencing the YouTube video I have created. Want a part in this? PM me. Create a character and a short bio for them. Accents are nice to have! Need a name? Try http://www.behindthename.com to find a good one. These will all be packed into one campaign when I'm done. Don't worry guys. There have been problems with the downloads lately. Anyone know a better file sharing website? Or can I have an admin help me upload the larger files? :P Mission 1 - Arrival (non-combat) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?07bqjybj32a17ty Mission 2 - First Flight (border patrol) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?27p7stt8g6gow0n Mission 3 - Barrakuda (escort for KA-50) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qlhia2a2b46wmmq Mission 4 - Russia's War (assault on Gudauta) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ys65wvm9js8ap1u Mission 5 - Blockade (escort Kuznetov from Sea of Azov to the Black Sea) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kd2li3dd8kxrfq8 Mission 6 - The Black Sea (incomplete, protect Kuznetov and destroyer escorts during rendezvous with the Moscow and Pyotr Velikiy) (No link) Mission 7 - (Unwritten) (No link) Note that all of the campaign missions are works in progress. By the end of this, I hope to have a skin and everything prepared for the campaign using the emblems below--plus more if I can get a decent artist to help me out. Any bugs you find in the trigger system, let me know, or even repair it yourself if you know how. Anything that just doesn't seem right otherwise, or if you have any constructive critique, also drop a line. :joystick: :pilotfly: By the way, I'm debating which emblem I should use for Volk Squadron. So vote. Here's a completed emblem. Edited October 2, 2010 by Spades_Neil New trailer! 2
Silent Warrior Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I wish you luck with this - it sounds exciting. And my vote is cast. Just to clarify, you WILL bundle the missions up as a campaign when it's completed, right? So I won't have to check back here and download the individual missions successively?
Spades_Neil Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 I wish you luck with this - it sounds exciting. And my vote is cast. Just to clarify, you WILL bundle the missions up as a campaign when it's completed, right? So I won't have to check back here and download the individual missions successively? Most certainly. When it's finished, it'll be bundled into a "Campaign" file. I've never messed with the campaign editor before, so this will be a first for me. If I manage to screw that up somehow I'll still pack the missions together in a single archive. Unless the total file size is too large for me to use file sharing sites, we should be fine.
Spades_Neil Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 Hm, I've casted polls on several sites beside here, and so far the gray emblem has majority, but at least here the colored one is starting to catch up. Maybe I'll make two versions to satisfy those who prefer the colored one? :)
Spades_Neil Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 New mission is in! :D And erm, moderators, is there any way to bump my thread without posting? >_> And is there a minimum timeframe for bumping? Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I don't recall reading anything in the rules about it. I could just be ignorant...
Rider1 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Excellent! Played all 4 missions last night. I really like flying the 33, and have been hoping for some new missions/campaign for some time. The voice acting/quality is great and adds some fun and pulled me into the story. The "Mission Complete" on 4 was a bit campy but in a good way. Made me LOL! (Not to spoil it too much) I enjoyed not having to fly halfway across the map to get to the action, and you didn't throw the entire enemy arsenal at me when I got there. :) I also like the fact that you incorporated some mud moving in the mission, hoping that will continue through the campaign. I don't mind air to air but am more into CAS/Strike myself.. The "There they are! Attack!" part was pretty cool though :) Looking forward to more, and having my jet repainted in that cool Wolfpack scheme too.. Cheers!

As for the skins, I'm just waiting on a friend of mine for nose art and I'll include the skin as a part of the final version of this campaign. I managed to snag some epic screenshots from the fight which I plan to put into the final version of the map when it's put into a campaign as well.
RIPTIDE Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I tell you what Spades.. that's not a bad trailer by any standard. :D I'll download missions now and have a go. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I'm a bit rusty at making videos, but this still blows away anything I've done in the past. I need better editing software, but for what I can do with Windows Movie Maker, it's not half bad.
zdXu Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Trying to download mission 1. Get this message for hours: "NOTICE: no servers are currently available with the requested data. Please retry your request in a moment".

zdXu Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) I have played missions 1 and 2 and i must say the text and the voice-acting of particularly the main-actor is very good. However i have not FC2.0 so i converted the missions to DCS BS and added some specific BS-informations (ABRIS-info, adjust proper vertical navigation, campaign-logic, weather, date, aeronautical charts etc). Is it allowed to share this with DCS-BS-community, of course with proper credits? Some suggestion: convert the .wav-files to .ogg-files and reduce the mission-size to 1/4 of the original. If I knew how to convert them to .ogg, that would be a good idea, though for the moment I'm using Audacity to do the effects. .ogg format would certainly be helpful if I knew how to convert it without butchering the file with VLC. D: If you know any easy-to-use converting programs that won't cost me a dime, I'll use it. But yes, you may convert the files for DCS if you wish. Credits for the first two missions is just me (Jeremy "Spades" Neil) as I play both Col. Voyla and Boris. In the mission Barrakuda, my buddy James "Syracuse" Wardrip played a part for the helicopter group, and then finally for the mission "Russia's War", my friend Sam "Indigo" Stepanian plays Ian Sokolov. :smilewink:

The result will be the same. I used a different program though, which is not free. I will send you the converted audio-files (rapidshare) to check the quality and use it if you have problems with the convertion via audacity. Mission 4 after conversion ca. 7MB (mono). Spades_Neil Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Finally updated this! Optimized missions to use .ogg instead of .wav files, reducing load time and file size to a fraction of its former self. Also added in the new mission!
zdXu Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Also added in the new mission! Downloaded. Stuck with Mission 3: What could be a spotreport (when was the threat last seen, where was threat last seen?) for this scenario in the briefing? Threat-quantity and threat-type was addressed and is clear. No spoilers though (;
Spades_Neil Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 Downloaded. Stuck with Mission 3: What could be a spotreport (when was the threat last seen, where was threat last seen?) for this scenario in the briefing? Threat-quantity and threat-type was addressed and is clear. No spoilers though (; Mission 3 can be a bit tricky. You have to rely on the Blackshark group to kill the ground targets, but I know sometimes they get all herp-derp and don't kill the last of them. I might add a failsafe for the mission. At X-amount of time if the Blackshark group is still alive, I'll just add a trigger to kill remaining targets perhaps.
blahdy Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 awesome voice acting. Btw on mission 4, is there a particular target on the airfield you have to attack to get the trigger to move forward? Attacked a bunch of stuff sitting on Gadauta airfield and the surrounding Georgian migs, still nothing happens.
Spades_Neil Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 awesome voice acting. Btw on mission 4, is there a particular target on the airfield you have to attack to get the trigger to move forward? Attacked a bunch of stuff sitting on Gadauta airfield and the surrounding Georgian migs, still nothing happens. Hm, odd. It -should- be that once you kill all the ground targets the air field is liberated. Make sure you actually got everything. The MiGs don't have anything to do with it. Hell, they could escape and it wouldn't matter. If you can't find ANY targets, even with external views on, let me know and I'll see what's wrong because it otherwise works fine for me. I've played the mission through.
blahdy Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Stupid me, I just tried again and made sure I kill all targets on the airfield, and mission trigger passed. Sorry to bother! :)
