Hi.

I am reading the manual for the Su-27, Su-33 and Mig-29 and it says in Longitudinal mode I should be able to use the missile heads of IR and Active missiles to do the scanning for me. I am doing the quick start Mig-29 mission and although I have R-77’s with AR and it won’t let me select the R-77’s and only the IR R-73’s. Has this been changed in a patch?

Thanx

Isn't it bug in LO2, where you can fire R-77 in TERMO mode? without radar LOL

But one should be able to fire R-77 and R-27ET in longitudinal mode because both are fire and forget weapons. R-77 has an active radar seeker and R-27ET has an IR seeker, active with no doubts.

R-77 has no IR seeker so they wont wotk with Longitudinal mode. Just R-27T/ET, R-60 or R-73 will work in this mode.

This is the same as FC1

Heaters are lock-before-launch beasts - as in lock the seeker on target before launch, and this is exactly how the ET, 73, 60, 9, etc should function and AFAIK, it is how they function in the game. Launch them without seeker lock, and good luck hitting something.

No, as in the 120C does not take input from the carrier's radar. Yes, it will work same as VISUAL mode.

That was what I was telling, once my radar is hit I can't get ET and R-77 on longitudinal mode only R-73.

Actually that was what I wanted to say and I meant that R-77 should also work as it uses analogous tracking technology.

There is no reason for the R-77 to work that way; I don't see 'why not', but the fact is that weapons don't always work in a way that 'makes sense', for a variety of reasons and we've run into that before.

The ET should though, almost for sure.

Ya, ET does work but some time when my radar is hit it wont work but that can be in game but donno for sure.

Strange.

And for what you are saying about R-77 hope thats exact replica of real one.

No, it isn't; if you can find some real life documentation on how it operates though it can probably be made to happen ;)

No one knows.

Man! For Russian systems thats more difficult than finding a needle in the heap of a hay. And what did you meant by 'made to happen', will FC2 be having patch in future.
