Scythe5 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Long time lockon user, but just picked up the platinum version. I've got a weird problem....the selection screen (fly now, mission, options, etc.) is almost white. The only thing I can see are the buttons, but no text. The first time I fired it up, I had to guess at what I was selecting. Once something is selected, none of the other backgrounds are like this. Is anyone having this problem, or know of a possible fix? I'm not noticing any other issues with the sim otherwise.
joey45 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Check your GFX drivers argh up to date... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Scythe5 Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Did that before I posted. I would think I there would be other graphical issues if that was the case, but that hasn't been the case. It's not a show stopper by any means, but.....you know.....I'd rather it be the way intended.

Scythe5 Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for the inputs...ATI card.....Turning off AI didn't work.... I did upgrade the drivers to the latest, but....nada. I should really do a screen shot. Its like a white screen, with white lettering on it. The buttons all look normal, just cannot see the description of what they do (not hard to figure out, but....). I've been messing with drivers and settings all day, but will give downgrading drivers a shot. Not sure what is up with this. Just noticed the mission briefing screen is the same way.....I can see the headers, but cannot read the decriptions below them. Everything else appears to be correct....Maybe it's possible to just replace the background texture?
Talon_300th Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hi Scythe, I have been having this exact same issue. I'm running an ATI card with updated drivers and updated DirectX. I'm also on Windows 7. I have reinstalled the game twice and had a browse to see if just the background texture is missing, but got nowhere. It's not only the menu, it's the log book and everything that's missing. The weird thing is, the Multiplayer starts up fine with nothing missing. No idea what's causing the issue. Can anyone else throw a few suggestions around? Moa Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Flaming Cliffs 2 uses OpenGL (appears to be via Lua bindings for GLUT) for the menu screens. It uses Direct3D (part of the DirectX family) in-game for the 3D. Please make sure you have OpenGL drivers installed for your graphics card (should be part of the ATI install bundle) and no weird OpenGL settings (as well as the Direct3D/DirectX drivers). The OpenGL driver for ATI is called atioglxx.dll if I remember correctly. Note: if you have a FireGL card you have better support for OpenGL and need a slightly different driver than if you have a Radeon (although the Radeon driver can be shoe-horned to work with a FireGL card). Edited September 28, 2010 by Moa changed wording "menu screens" instead of "main screen"
Talon_300th Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Cheers Moa, I'll give this a look after work. At least I know its likely an OpenGL issue, so I can direct my attention that way. Thanks again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the Earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return". -Leonardo da Vinci
