Lampliter Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hello everyone I am new here. I just bought DCS Blackshark and I have encountered a problem. I have installed the program with no issue. However when I try to launch the game I get this message. Launcher.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I am dying to play this game. I am not very good at getting around in windows, because I have always been on a mac. So you may have to talk to me very slowly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lampliter Posted September 10, 2010 Author Posted September 10, 2010 Thanks guys. I did not install the new patch. But now I have a greater problem. I uninstalled the game inorder to reinstall. Now it wont even install because it says my media may be damaged. It is a brand new disk. Guess Im on a journey with this one. First I have to settle this broken media thing and then I will be back. Hope to talk real soon. Unless you have an answer for this to.
InFireBaptize Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 hmmm, interesting. I suggest that you do Error Check on your hard drive, i don't think it refers to the dvd disk but the media you're trying to install to. In your next post, write down your computer spec. Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I did get it to install by the way. Not sure why it didnt earlier but I have installed and uninstalled several times now. But still the same problem, launcher.exe. Ok my system is a quad core intel mac pro. I have a 1 gig 4870 graphics card. 3 gigs of ram. I am running windows through bootcamp. Boot camp runs windows natively, I never have problems with windows under boot camp(im saying this because some may think that is the problem). I did look through the forums and the link you sent me. All I can get from it is that there are alot of launch.exe problems and no real fix for it. It seem it should have a clear fix seeing so many have this issue. My problem is that I am not very windows savvy, so debugging this sim and the os is a bit much. I am willing to give it all I have but I need some help. Thanks again for your patience.

Lampliter, is your bootcamp up to date? copy game folder and install from your windows partition, what version of window you're running? Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I am using bootcamp 2.0, latest version I think. I am using windows xp pro. I am installing on my windows partition already. I cant share files between partitions, I have to boot into windows to use it. Thanks
Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I did find an update to bootcamp it is 2,1. However it didnt make a difference.
Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Going crazy with trying to get this running. Going for a beer and a smoke.
slug88 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Have you installed the latest DCS:BS patch? 1.02, available from this website. BTW, CAT_101st, I think you mean 'heart ache' ;). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pirke77 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) you must let to installer put start icons on desktop. if you dont do this you will be no able to start game. but and for this you have solution:) just rename in game path in file property without --console . example for my mashine: put shortcut of luncher.exe on desktop and then right click and proprieties and rename this where is your game luncher.exe :) target: E:\Igre\Ka-50\bin\x86\stable\launcher.exe start in : E:\Igre\Ka-50\ and all works just fine. Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 I am using the installer properly, I let it put the short cut icon on the desk top. When installing the game I am making no changes. I am letting it do its thing. I did down load the 1,0,1c patch. I think that is what it is called. QUESTION. When windows down loads a patch and I click run, does it install the patch right into the app for me as mac os does or do I have to manually do it. Thanks for your replies.
EtherealN Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Windows should detect the correct position of the application (through looking up a registry, basically the same method that MacOS and most other operating systems do it) and install. I generally do double-check positions anyway just in case, but you should be fine with just starting the installer and go with the location that it proposes unless otherwise prompted by the installer. sweinhart3 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Have you tried turning off Windows User Account Control before installing and running? Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Where do I turn it off. I looked in accounts and dont see an option to turn it off. Sorry for my ignorance.
KillaALF Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Don't worry, UAC was introduced with Windows Vista, there is no such thing in XP. Have you tried updating your graphics card driver yet?
Lampliter Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Hi Guys. I dont think this has anything to do with blackshark. I have tried to install several games and I cant launch any of them. I am going to wipe out bootcamp and reload windows and start from scratch. I used to play games all the time on boot camp but a month ago my hard drive went. Brought it into the mac store and had it replaced. Brought it home with new os install and it is running like a charm. Decided to put windows on again to play BS and this is where I am now. Not sure what is wrong but I dont think it is BS. So I am going to reinstall windows and see what happens. Thanks again
sweinhart3 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Been such a long time since I used XP at home I forgot it didnt have UAC. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
slug88 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 BTW, 1.02 is the most current patch, 1.01c is outdated. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lampliter Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 I got the sim running. I was missing a microsoft update called Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Now it does launch. I know this is weird but no serial number came with my packaging. There is a serial number area on the back of my quick start guide, it is a gold rectangle with the words serial number written on it but no serial number. Is this normal. So I have the game installed and launching but I cant play it. Who do I contact to get this number. It is a legitimate disk. I payed 45 dollars canadian at a london drugs. Thanks for your past help.
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 That sounds odd, I'd suggest taking a picture of the quick start guide and posting it in the activation forum explaining your problem. http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=38 Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Lampliter Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Thanks Nate. Good idea, but even with the picture no one is going to believe it is legit. I am going to do what you say though. thanks.
