Lamb00fgod Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Im moving along at a snails pace. I still have no knowledge on the little nit pick things. Wich is the # 1 reason I like the game is for those little details. I don't want to start endles threads asking about the benefits of this or that or how to do this or that. There is no provided manual that comes with the game except a install and uninstall booklet, and the ingame tutorials lack on so many levels. Seemingly skimping on the protein of the things you can do. I love these forums but, even little things like carrier landings are hard to find even using the search this forum tab. I heard there was a manual someone said "you failed to read page 240" etc etc where is this manual and or a complete guide on this game guys.? thanks for help I know this is soo noob but getting aggravated tying to uncover alot of stuff. more work than play it seems.
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Have a look in X:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Doc for lockon_fc2_flight_manual_en.pdf Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
dooom Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 pick ONE airframe and stick with it. Map it and learn what are the MUST HAVE HOTAS keys. focus your energy on that airframes information in the manual then do the associated searches here at ED... i.e. "Su25T navigation" Take little bites lamb and have fun. nomdeplume Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I heard there was a manual someone said "you failed to read page 240" etc etc where is this manual and or a complete guide on this game guys.? It's in the location Nate said, but you should also have shortcuts to the electronic manuals in the Start Menu program group for the games. There are two manuals, the 'flight manual' which covers flying the aircraft, and the 'GUI manual' which covers all the user-interface stuff including the mission editor. If you prefer hardcopy, you can buy a printed copy of the flight manual - check the sticky threads at the top of the General Discussion forum.
vanir Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Absolutely agree with dooom, I'm still a beginner myself and have never actually done proper missions, campaigns or even quick starts. I use the mission editor to just put an Su-27 on the runway and teach myself basic flight manoeuvres. Especially landings. With FC2 you definitely want to just pick one airframe, because each one can be key mapped differently to suit the best style for it. I put all my radar modes on numpad and map the HOTAS for all the essential stuff, experimenting as I go so that I can get to a point where I can fly the plane, perform all its functions and maintain situational awareness. After that point it's just a matter of practise. There are always little things one will have to learn by discovery, for example I'm very curious about the Ekran on Flankers, I think any piece of equipment must be placed in the cockpit for a reason, this one is a working item and yet I have no reference of how to read it and what it does. I assume it is part of the datalink system.
GGTharos Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 THe EKRAN is actually your maintenance/nagging nadia system. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Lamb00fgod Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Yeah I have been using one airframe the F-15c. I got take off down to a T. Landing Is pretty good just have trouble with air speed every now and then. I like doing random stuff like jettison the tanks, wepaons, and ejecting is so awesome lol. Now im just having trouble with the AN/63 Dopplar radar. I can't get a bogey in it for NOTHING ! ,even if its right in front of me. I mess with the altitude scan, the missile I have ready, the asimus (spelling),and the distance of the scan (10,20,40,80,160 nm I think) and CAN't get this chopper in it for any thing so that I can lock it. If somebody can give me some tips on this thing cause I can't figure it out and why it wont get me a bogey on its scanners.

Helicopters are difficult to get lock up in FC2 due to their low speed and the non-simulation of the radar returns from their rotors (which should make them highly visible). Your best bet for practicing with the radar is probably to put in some large transport planes and practice getting them. Another idea is to put an A-50 AWACS aircraft up - that way it'll appear on your RWR which will help you orient yourself to it while you try to pick it up on radar.
