its one better

Exactly what I was thinking of. But This is Spinal Tap didn't come out till 1984 so the Warthog designer must have been a precog.

To get the decals and stickers done it will take more people or a higher price its one or the other.

That and it seams to be a waist of time at the moment I have other things to work on but hey if 15 guys order great.

I don't have the cash to cover 30% of the order again.

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Used a bit more fill stick last night this works very well

http://www.amazon.com/Markal-Lacquer-Stik-Paintstick-White/dp/B002BY8HKS/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_text_y

I have found if you have engraving on aluminum to fill. Warm the piece under a lamp I used one light coat of etching primer on the canopy disengage plate . Then used light coats of a gloss color that matches the flat color you want.

Having the piece warm helps the paint dry faster the light coats keep it so you don't fill in the letters to much.

Let it dry under the lamp for 24 hours use the fill stick wipe off the extra with a blue paper shop towel http://www.homedepot.com/p/Scott-55-ct-Shop-Towels-on-a-Roll-75130/100029293#.Un_hkyfTB24

or similar type not just paper kitchen towel. I uses a flat sculpting tool as a flat edge with the towel under it to make a flat surface to remove the extra paint .

let it dry for 12 hours wet a small patch of the blue shop towel with alcohol and remove any extra left over paint there will be a bit of white clouding around the letters don't worry about getting it all off.

Let it dry thoroughly then coat with three to four light coats of mattes clear sealer the clouding dissipated ant the gloss shine is gone.

If the item is like the ladder cover just use clear sealer in stead of the matte.

ladder cover with out the clear sealant

Fine bit of restoring there, DM. Paint stick, huh? I've never actually used one of those. You still recommend the clay or putty method for the knobs? I just picked up some clay last week in anticipation of painting the knobs as soon as I drill them all. Or is this paint stick all the rage with the kids these days?

MacFevre thaks for the heads up sending a PM now.

I have not tried the paint stick on the knobs i think it would be to thick and uneven and it would not work in the layer meathod and if you paint every thing gray to use the fill stick then you can not see light in the arrow area.

Deadman's A-10 C Cockpit Build

How about that fancy red cover you got there? :) um, eventually I'll want to start an AcesII... Can you dip the whole seat? Like a really big plastic 1:1 model! :D

You know, the more I think about it, how *about* the big red round switch cover you have there? Or maybe the brake and ... Handles? (It left me there at 2am.) time to check out.

ACES II seat have been done in Fiberglas there is an F-15 seat on eBay now and then it is in some kind of mock up cockpit.for ACES II seats. Now the spring loaded push button cover I looked at casting but I don't think it would last long stamped out of thin Aluminum woudl be the best option mostly for ease of mounting to the guard.

Hi Gene all of the A-10 rotary switch and potentiometers knobs are all ready cast and are listed for sale in the appropriate thread.

If there is enough interest in the Canopy Jett and emergency brake handles they could be made as well.

There ya go, DM. Create a non-profit, set up a 501© and have companies donate to your... Restoration... And Display of.... America's Military Air Power. Of course, you could call it Deadman's Pit, but that might sound too much like its got something to do with Dante's Inferno! :D So how about RADAMAP? ;)

Nice Gene but I have most of the parts the only thing I will need CNCed is the MFCD bezels and a back light able panel or two.I was going to keep the casting equipment out for a bit longer but it seam that no one is interested in emergency break, Canopy jettison pedal adjust or AUX LG EXT handles. So I will finish up the current knobs and pack up the equipment
