Crazyowl Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Needed some Help. I need if some one can help me out with the sensitivity of the controls so they respond better. Need some Axis Tune numbers for pitch, roll and rudders? I have a Ch Fighterstik and Throttle rudders if this can help. By the way I am new to Ka50, former pilot of iL-2. Love the sim, hard to fly the chopper:pilotfly: Any imput is welcome. salute CrazyOWl
power5 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 small steady linputs. My G940 curves have not been touched. Helicopters do not react like fixed wing, they are much slower to respond to inputs. Are you holding trim and do you have the three AP buttons engaged? hachiman Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I don't want to gatecrash anyone's thread. But i have an X-52 Pro and was would like the same info if out there. Salut owl!!
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have a fairly rubbish stick (Logitech Force 3d Pro). Attached are the curves I use for Pitch and roll in DCS Black shark, I don't touch the rudder curve. Experiment with different Values until it feels right, to be honest. Speed Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Make sure you understand the trimmer system too, that can cause pilot induced oscillation if you don't. Basically, the two ways people fly are to hold down the trimmer while making a maneuver and then releasing the trimmer when the maneuver is complete, or using the flight director mode. Considering that the holding down the trimmer method is the way the real aircraft is flown and it reduces the pilot workload, I'd say that that way is the better way, but it's really up to your personal preference. Don't give up! The helo is a DREAM to fly, there is an amazingly good flight model in this game :) You just have to understand how the thing works before you can begin to learn how to fly it correctly. Personally, the only curves I use for my stick are having the collective reversed so it is like the real collective (pull for more pitch). I did alot better in Il-2 myself and could finally land on the carrier when I REMOVED my joystick curves! If you think you might need alot of help, send me a private message and I can set up a time to meet you on Teamspeak. Crazyowl Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 Tnhkz all for the imput!! I will work in those curves and yes I think I understand the 3 AP and the trim button that you have to hold down wile manuevering. The only problem I have is when I push the trim button to manuerver and when Iam in the heading I whant it have a realy sick kick back tendensy that damage everything and make me unestable :joystick: So any imput. This one is complicated but I don't mine, its a good challenge to fly one of this. One other problem are like reverse break in rudders  when I push the break it role lol. Anyways, I will keep reading, oh is it worth it to buy the manual or is exactly the same as the pdf? <S> All. Crazyowl I use to fly the choopers in BF2 and I was good, I know is not the same at all. :smartass:
Nate--IRL-- Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Also make sure that the rudders do not have the Pitch and roll axis assigned to the rudder pedal (if you have them). This caught me out a few times. I'll be honest I don't understand your last post, could you try re-writing it? Edit:- the manual is exactly the same. power5 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 With a non FFB stick you have to release trim when stable in your attitude, then recenter stick and rudder very very quickly. Note that you will probably need to still recenter the stick as it will probably buck a bit as you are not fast enough on the recenter. As for the rudders, make sure you did not let up on the brake when setting the axis. I had a slight bit of pressure on my toe brakes and when I went to assign the first time, I lifted and that was the input. Or maybe that was IL2. Not sure. Last time I reinstalled I did not setup the toe brakes and just use the KB as its not that important really. Frazer Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 When I first got DCS:BS I found the helicopter to be too sensitive aswell. I flew with a slight curve for the first few weeks. After that I switched back to the standard settings, no curves and no deadzones at all. Helicopters do require small and precise inputs, and it takes time to get used to. I use a X52pro by the way. Anyway, I have no experience with other (older) sticks than the X52pro. If the stick doesn't allow precise inputs (no matter centerplay, the X52pro has some, but isn't a problem) I guess you need some curve. My advice is to use some curve and reduce it over time. As the helicopter felt too sensitive in the beginning, it feels perfect now. In other words, training reduces sensitivity aswell. 1 Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Achurro Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 .... In other words, training reduces sensitivity aswell. I confirm.. the 3 Ps: Practix, practix and mooore practix, best way to your own controls.:joystick: From my experience, I did tweak some axis as Frazer, when I started. I feel the heli too, too smooth. Risky. As I gained hand, I don't have any problem with stalls, vortex or bad trims... wich don't say they don't occurr.. phone cells, ah, my wife!:D  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
