Hi

Just setup a mission for my helo to follow waypoints. I pressed the R button, but the helo just kept climbing as i still had the collective on. I expected it to follow the waypoints at the height i had set them in the game, but it didn't although it did follow the waypoints.

Thanx

radar alt hold autopilot will keep you at X height above the ground, but its only really good for flat or land that hasnt got lots of big hills etc.

Baro height hold, will keep you at X height regardless of the terrain.

Baro is the preffered choice IMO, as the radar alt hold will constantly change height with regards to whatever height the terrain is that you are flying over.

Thanx Bumfire. But i think you,ve misunderstood my question or i phrased it wrong.

If you press R, then you engage route mode, but route mode seems to go to the different waypoints, but not the height the WP was set at??

Thanx

Hi Hachiman,

The KA50 has no concept of altitude with regards to waypoints, so , no , the route mode will attempt to hold your current altitude at the time of engaging it only ... if you also set Radar altitude hold mode (as bumfire has said), then it will terrain follow as best as able, within 10% of the available torque (and only within 300 Mtrs above ground level) , but it will not change altitudes for you based on what altitide you set the waypoint at.

within 10% of the available torque

+/- 20 % of the manually set AoA, to be more exact. :)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Well, to be really exact, it's 20% of total rod travel of the hydraulic booster's output rod.

Specifically, for the KAU-115 booster (which I am pretty sure is used on the Ka-50, but I could be wrong) the total output rod travel is 73.5-74.5mm. The autopilot input is limited to 12.5-15.0mm.
