Back with another question folks. I have watched a youtube tutorial on the countermeasures system and it wasn't all that descriptive, just basically said to set up a random amount of pulses, numbers of measures per pulse, etc.. So is there a basic/standard setup for the countermeasures system for MANPADS?

Also, once you start launching your flares, what is the standard maneuver after that ? pitch up, roll left or right and turn a 180 and fly the other direction or what?(Of course this will depend on which direction the threat is coming from, so lets assume its at your 12'o clock nose) This has always confused me.

And last but not least. Can you bind the countermeasures stop and start button to just ONE button on your joystick/throttle, like a toggle on/off or do you have to have one for on and one for off.

EDIT: I know I said last but not least, but I've got just one more question regarding the missile threat system. In the middle of the 4 red lights that determine where the threat is coming from there is 2 rectangle lights. The youtube tutorial video I watched said the top one lights up if the threat is above you and the bottom one lights up if the threat is below you. This confuses me because wont every missile threat (unless launched from another aircraft) would be "below" you, wouldn't it? MANPADS don't launch from above you... unless I am understanding this wrong aswell.

2 situations from above:

- You may be flying low in a valley - your being lased from above

- There's a plane lasing your for range

Start dispensing / stop dispensing can be assigned to joystick no problem.

My favorite program is 013 - continously dispense with ~3sec interval until I stop it.

Favorite manouver:

I hope I spotted the launch, since it will tell me what to do.

Quite often it is:

- Beam / break & get low & go fast.

Depends on the situation of course.

But speed and being at 90 degrees makes it harder for the missile to hit home. And if you can fool it into hitting the ground before you do, excellent.

No. Just try it, when you find a program you like, you can then pre-program it in the LUA files for all your flights:

A user-programmable LUA script for controlling the UV-26 countermeasures control panel

is located in the \Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\Devices_specs\UV_26.lua file.

ex:

init_ripple_quantity_program = 0
init_num_in_burst_program = 1
init_ripple_intervals_program = 3

Ah very well. I have set up 013 as a default to test out. Now how would I assign a key on my joystick/throttle to work as a toggle for on/off as the system it self has its own ON and OFF buttons. I cannot assign the same key to both functions in the controls can I?

Depends if your stick software emulates two different "buttons".

Check Options / Controls you will see there's 1 assignment for start and 1 for stop. You need to emulate 2 buttons.

Ah alright, so I need to do it thru my Saitek X52 software. I have so far just been assigning keys thru the games options -> Controls page.

Same as me then, not using the SST at all. Using the PgUp/PgDown wheel on the throttle for Start & Stop. The wheel emulates two different buttons (and a third if you press it down).

I have an X-45 button set to "latched" on an advanced command. When you press it the first time it fires the macro "A." It is then latched until the second time you press it and the release macro "B" fires.

Thus you press the button and the macros fire "A" "B" "A" "B" and so on. I use it for changing the Shkval zoom from 7x to 23x and back again.

The upper/lower hemisphere lights correspond to sensors on the top and bottom of the aircraft. Depending on your attitude (bank, pitch, etc.) you could get all sorts of indications. Also each of the sensors overlap with the adjoining sensor's arc. Level threats will often set off the top and bottom sensors together just like a threat from the front right might set off both the front and right sensors.

Personally my reaction to LWR is to turn 90-120 degrees away from the threat, increase speed, decrease altitude, and try to put distance and terrain between me and it.

Not sure if I know what you mean by pgUp and phDown wheel on the throttle.

Below the LCD on the hotas, there are two wheels to adjust program + backlight. You can use these as ingame wheels - they are infact emulating buttons when you turn them.

The only thing below the LCD/MFD on the throttle is three buttons, Function, Start/Stop, Reset... is that what you are talking about? no wheel.

Alright I Just looked up a picture of the X52 PRO and I think thats what you are referring to. I do not have the PRO version, just the standard X52....

Wouldnt 013 dispense no measures at all? I thought the first number was how many pulses per cycle, 0 being no pulses at all?

That's why a one per two months revisit to the manual is recommended :)

Also the meaning of exceptional values for UV-26 is printed on its housing :music_whistling:
