Having not played BS or lockon (I'm a virgin DCS convert) I am struggling to set up a basic flight. I would like to be able to set my aircraft at Nellis with the engines off and no stores so that I can practise start ups and then go for a fly. Destroying stuff will come later once I've got a handle on the a/c. Is there a way to do this? Create Instant Mission doesnt work.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hallo.

Go to the mission editor, put a A10C somewhere near an airfield on top. From the right menu once you have the A10C placed and selected set waypoint type to "Ramp start". Above is there a loadout button. You can deselect all your stuff.

Also the training missions are good.

Another option is use "Shooting Gallery" in the missions, you start on the ramp cold. I use that one to progress through the different things I want to learn and I have to start-up each time so it's "getting" faster. It's good to have some stores on so you get use to how it handles when loaded.

Welcome to the Forum and DCS.

Gents (I presume),

Thanks for your help. I've managed to get a basic mission set up just as I want it and will also be using the shooting gallery in due course. For some reason when I tried to place an object before, I could only get the 'player' option once.

Sarge55, thanks for the welcome.

As an aside, shouldn't pressing F2 take me to an external view of the aircraft? Sorry if this is an utterly basic question but according to Controls it should do and this, as well as the other F keys dont seem to do anything.

I'm still fumbling around with this sim but I'm certain it will be worth it.

Make sure "external views" is enabled under "difficulties" (options>gameplay).

DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'.

(yes, corny. Sorry.)

Also, if your keyboard has a function button, you may need to hit that so that your F keys are sending F1, F2, F3, etc, instead of whatever else they may do, depending on model keyboard.
