Revelation Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Dual core + running at 3.2GHz+ GTX285+/ATI's equivalent 4GB+ RAM 2x SATA 3/6 HD in RAID0 TH Warthog HOTAS Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT
sweinhart3 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I would recommend using the most expensive cpu and graphics card you can afford with at least 4GB ram. The rest of the stuff makes little difference to run performance. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
dave4002000 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hey Revelation, how do you like that H50? I'm trying to decide between the Thermaltake Spin-Q and the H50. I'm just not sure how well a $80 water system would perform :ermm: USAF Bomber Avionics Specialist, Ret. Revelation Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hey Revelation, how do you like that H50? I'm trying to decide between the Thermaltake Spin-Q and the H50. I'm just not sure how well a $80 water system would perform :ermm: I love my H50! Before it I was using a big a$$ Zalman air cooler, I was overclocking my Q6600 to 2.7-2.8 GHz - somedays it was stable at 2.8, others it wasn't. My IDLE temperatures were 60C, under load I often hit mid 80's. Enter the H50... I have a very stable 3.2GHz overclock, idle temperatures are 35C and under max load I have hit 55C on one core. The other cores typically stop around 51-52C. The H50 performs great, yes you could easily spend more and get better performance. For only $79 it was a steal! If you want even cooler temps, you can go with an H70 for $100. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT

Idle temps on my 6400+ went from around 55C down to 26C. I also mounted the radiator outside the case, took the fan off of it and mounted it right in front of my tornado desk fan :D I'm going to see how close to 4.0GHz i can get now:music_whistling: USAF Bomber Avionics Specialist, Ret. Tango Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Check my sig - runs DCS:W well overall, and doesn't break the bank either. :) Best regards, Tango.
