159th_Viper Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Quite normal - water is rendered under land. Both FC1 and BS are the same ;) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? kylania Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 ... so what were you doing under land, anyway? ;) I tried to land my A-10C on an aircraft carrier in DCS A-10C... ended up 120,000ft below the sea! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

cadete2000 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 So is this is normal, that means that yesterday I lost half a day trying to fix this problem. The good thing is that by chance I fixed a problem that was bothering me for long time.Thank for the replays.
combatace Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Well its like a game engine has layers that are loaded one over the other like water than land that fields than trees than those Air ports we see. Thats why we don't get seasons on a single part of terrain be whole map as seasons too act like layers. Ever seen a 1500x1500sq.Km. wide, spread of thick clouds? EtherealN Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Yup cadete, it is normal. Basically it allows the entire sea to be "painted" with a grand total of two polygons instead of several hundred thousand polygons. Shame to waste polygons on something that's just flat anyway, better to save them for the terrain to allow added detail there. Unfortunately this does have some side effects, but in my opinion it's worth it. :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
combatace Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Well as far as I know thats is the current technology limit to be used on personal computers. More advance graphic engines can be developed but sometimes they are not that worth to shed money on research for a thing that you can't put in market for sale.
