GunnDawg Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 For some reason it says I dont have access to the A10C modding forum so I figured I might ask here. I am trying to create a basic misssion with a platoon of us troops facing off against a group of insurgents, and having one of the US troops act as JTAC. I tried to copy one of the missions that has a JTAC already and it seems all they did was make 2 scripts "set callsign", and "set frequency" I did that for one of the units but it never showed up as JTAC. How do you make them a JTAC unit?
kylania Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Create a Unit (HMMWV is a good start) Call it what ever you like JTAC etc Look at ADVANCE tab use the ADD and add the following 1 Set Callisign (select desired name from the tab) 2 Set Frequency (131) 3 Invisible (true) Doing this makes it possible to contact the JTAC and ensures it wont be spotted by the enemy then just add the units you want to use as targets and name them what ever you want (Armor/truck etc) go back to the tab for you JTAC and add your targets as, 4 FAC - Attack Group (armor) 5 FAC - Attack Group (Truck) and so on. Its not too hard and I dont explain it well but if you just sit and play with the editor its all there and you can see what I mean. or To add a FAC to a mission (I dont think he will lase the target) Add a friendly unit Select it and click the 'advanced' button at the bottom Click 'Add' Set 'Type' to 'do command' Set 'Action' to 'Set Callsign' choose a call sign Click 'Add' Set 'Type' to 'do command' Set 'Action' to 'Set Freq' Choose a freq Click 'Add' Set 'Type' to 'do task' Set 'Action' to 'FAC - attack group' repeat the above to add more FAC entries :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
GunnDawg Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Ah this worked great. Some some JTAC action. Now if only I knew how to properly follow JTACS orders, heh. Any good tutorials on learning and understanding the 9 - line?
kylania Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Eddie has some great information about 9Lines in the attachments to this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58793 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie

coolts Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 It seems like the JTAC unit must be manually targetted at an enemy unit in the ME before it will give any information. Not very dynamic IMO. Can anyone confirm this, as when i havent had them in "attack group" mode (with line connecting them in the map), the JTAC isn't available. VTJS17_Fire Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 And how do I create a JTAC, that lase the targets? Or how do I create a AFAC, like the Predetor drone? I think that you can get the JTAC to pick his own targets, but he needs line of sight. It's somewhere in the "add" button and it is labeled "FAC" to VJS161 fire, I think there is a mission posted somewhere on these forums that has an OH-58D acting as AFAC, I had it on my missions list but I think I lost it when I updated it to beta 2. I also saw somewhere "again" on these forums about using the predator drone as a JTAC, might be in the JTAC flexibilty thread, use the search function... andysim Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) you can make a predetor act as eyes for the JTAC if you just have the drone flying over the target area. Just set up a drone. No need to do anything special just make it orbit the target area Set up you JTAC as normal but dont use Attack group. Just use FAC option after setting the Callsigh. Should look like this Set Frequency Set Callsigh FAC I had a bug where he would only give me the first group of targets and then went silent. I need to test this is the new beta though it might have changed. EDIT, JTAC still only gives first group. He says hes ready for next group and then goes silent. Will need further testing. Move the JTAC away from the targets so hes not seeing them directly to test this. About 30 or 30 miles but not too far or he will be too far to radio you. Edited November 3, 2010 by andysim
