In-game freeze

Beta 2 -- the game freezes for me during some of the Georgia missions (tried the two new Georgia missions). Sound continues, but the video freezes and as far as I can tell from the sound, nothing is actually happening. The first time it happened about 15 minutes in to the mission, the second time about 5-10 minutes. No obvious reason why, it's not like I was doing anything at the time, just flying straight and level.

I also get his now. HUGE freezes ranging from a second to several seconds sometimes. Last one only 'came out of it' after I crashed, so looks like things still happen while the freeze is happening.

Just curious, but could you check you have a folder called Pre-compiled effects in your temp folder?

 

The reason behind some of these pauses are that Warthog is compiling shader effects in sim. What it seems to do is then make a list of what is needed for the next time and will compile these shaders before entering the sim world, removing the cause of the pauses.

 

Until Warthog builds up a library of precompiled effects you will get occasional pauses from time to time.

Sort of the same issue when flying the hideout(en).miz. About the time I reach wypt 5 my joystick stops functioning. Throttle is fine just the axis for flight stop working. When I come out of the game the control panel test does not work either and I require a reboot to fix it. X-52.
