awjudge Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Random question... I just set up a quick night mission (I looove the fact you can see the TGP laser with the NVG!) I set my wingie on to a bunch of vehicles with GBU 12's and he hit all of them, but at no point did I see his laser fire... I was hoping to watch the light show :) Does anyone know if this is something has hasn't been implemented yet, or is it working as designed? Thanks
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Actually the Laser for bomb guidance isn't visible to the NVGs. Only the IR pointer is. However these currently these display the wrong way around in the TGP. So when you have LSR selected in the TGP MFCD you are actually seeing the IR pointer model. awjudge Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks for the reply, that makes sense. I've had a look in the manual, under what circumstances would one use the IR pointer, rather than the laser?

Biggest advantage would be during multiplayer. IRL, it's often used for the same as well as target confirmation with say a JTAC or other friendlies on the ground to let them know where the guy in the sky is looking.
awjudge Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Awesome, that has so much potential in MP!
