I believe they do reload. I think the mission 'battle.miz' from dcs: blackshark has MLRS units firing more than one barrage. I want to say around 8-12 minutes, but that is just a guess from the last time I watched the battle.

here we go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BM-21_Grad

"reload is around 10 minutes"

I just watched a acmi from the battle in tacview. It took the grad 9 minutes from the first barrage to the second. EDIT: actually there are 4 bm-21s. They all fired at the same time the first barrage. Then after 9 minutes, one unit fired again, then about another minute later the next unit fired again. By 12 minutes after the first barrage, all four had fired their second attack. So it seems that the reload can be a little bit random, probably depending on the skill set in the mission.

I was going to post what their scripted reload rate was, but it seems that line is missing from their lua file. Perhaps that information was moved to another location, but within Black Shark the reload times are:

M270 and 9k51 Grad = 600 seconds. or 10 minutes

mk58 Smerch = 1200 seconds. or 20 minutes.

they all seam to have a ammo reserve of an extra full volley.

Honestly don't know how fuel or ammo trucks effect the AI, if at all. I do know that for players fuel and ammo trucks acted as a control to what a player can do at a farp.

Yep they moved it. Can't find the relative files for rocket artillery, honestly not sure if they exist anywhere yet or even if they are capable of reloading. But for all cannon based weapons that info is there!

M109 Stats

1. 4 rds/min for 3 min (12 rounds) or 12 shots at 15 sec interval

2. 1 rd/min for an hour

3. 1 rd/3min after that.

So once each stage is fullfilled it moves to the next one. In the 3rd stage it just stays there... forever.

Other artillery systems have similar specs, except none of the russian systems go to a 3rd stage.

SPG Msta

20 shots at 8 sec interval

then 30 shots at 10 sec interval

SPG 2S3 "AKATCIA

12 shots at 18 sec interval

then 34 shots at 23 sec interval

SPG 2S9 "Nona"

25 shots at 8 sec interval

SPG 2S1 Gvozdika

12 rounds at 13 sec interval

then 28 rounds at 40 sec interval

Its worth noting that I ran a test with the M109. Had it fire at a target for about 4 hours, over the coarse of firing it switched rates accordingly. Then it moved to the next waypoint and started firing at the first rate of 4 shots per min. It then proceeded through switching firing rates.

The reload time for the Smerch is about 1 hour 5 mins/10 mins somehting like that.

M270 is probably similar.

Thanks for the research there, Grimes, it matches what I have seen while testing my automatic artillery engagement script. M109s will fire forever, but at a very slow rate. 2S19s will eventually run out and not shoot again. I don't know if they ever replenish their supply.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could trigger ground unit rearming and refueling?
