leafer Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 1. Is there an option to start the A-10 on the end of the runway of my choice? 2. I want to populate the airport with jets, helos, vehicles, etc but getting them to line up with proper separations in between and in orderly fashion is a pain. How do you do it? 3. I saw a vid with red smoke on the ground. Is there an option to place smoke in ME? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

leafer Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 2. My bad and not what I meant. I meant parking static aircraft around and have them lined up and evenly spaced. Or if I want a fuel truck near a parked F-18 but not too close where they overlapped one another then I would have to exit ME to see it in the game. It takes quite a few attempts to get all the objects just right. This back and forth is frustrating. The other link is exactly what I needed. Thanks a bunch! kylania Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Ooh, yeah, I think just trial and error maybe? Some of the missions have really well placed units, I'm just not sure how they did that. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Spectre_USA Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 They do have a parked plane template for Nellis, which I based a few missions on in Beta 1, but with the "Lav Vegas" problem, I don't even mess with it. Once downtown is squared away, I intend to thin the herd, like in beta 1, as they were a frame wrecker then... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
leafer Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Exactly! How did they get units to line up is a mystery they won't share. Spectre, as much as I love to, I don't even mess with Nellis or Bloom anymore. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Spectre, as much as I love to, I don't even mess with Nellis or Bloom anymore. Trial and error. It's not Photoshop ;) (with you on the Nellis avoidance at the early WIP stage) Once you get them right, save them as a template group then you never have to fiddle again. Much. 104th_Crunch Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Leafer, you place the units in the editor then load the 3D game engine to view and go back and fourth until you get what you want. The problem is there is no more satellite view in the mission editor since Black Shark when they separated the game engine from the UI engine. People have brought this up plenty before, and hopefully someday soon we get an accurate satellite view back in the mission editor.

Panzertard Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 We all learn to be creative with the tools we got at hand - using multiple windows like that becomes natural after a while. It's all a matter of keeping track of when to save - and when not to - otherwise you'll get nasty errors when the file is locked by the MP-server. PS, remember to enable labels & external view in your mission when you work on it of course, you can turn those off later. 1 The mind is like a parachute.
