Hey everyone,

I have been searching here with this issue and how to resolve this problem.I see that others have had it but do we have to live with it? I know how to use the trimming system and always center immedietly after releasing the trim button. For about 10 min I slammed around the sky trying to get it to happen after removing the Saitek software crap..and found that I got a longer flight before it decided to lock up.Sometimes it releases by working with the rudder pedals, moving the stick in circles..resetting the schval screen.. and sometimes just doing nothing.Really no ryhme or reason why it does it and what really stops it.

I have the latest Saitek drivers..just dumped the software as an experiment.I never use it anyways..:joystick:

Any help would be appreciated

I have an X-52 and use the SST programming software. I don't have any of the lockups that you describe.

Have you tried looking at the calibration or even recalibrating the X52. Look to see if its spiking or its centre is not aligned. That could prevent the trim system from giving you back control.

Have you tried the other trim system incorporated in DCS BS, maybe this will work more to your liking.

You most likely have to add some deadzones - it sounds like either your stick or pedals do not get fully centered. Normal wear and tear can cause intermittent cases where the device is physically centered, but the device is saying something else (usually very close to centered) to the computer. Combined with the wait-til-centered mode this can cause apparent lockups.

Another option is to switch to the timed mode (in the options screen, centering method), where the simulator halts reading the inputs for a short time and then resumes irrespective of position.

Remember that in case of using stick with rudder pedals you have to center both to regain control after trimming. Check if your center is solid when you have your hand relaxed on the stick / hold your feet on your rudder pedals. The best (and simple!) tool to test it is DIView.

If the center is not right then you should re-calibrate the controls. Recalibrating Saitek controls usually involves registry editing so let us know if you really need to proceed that way.

I don't think there is a thing wrong with your X52, stop beating yourself to death on the wrong thing. This is an easy to fix problem, I think, as it sounds like you are locking yourself out by not returning the stick to the center position after a trim (this is a feature of the SIM). First of all, the proper way to fly is actually to hold down the trimmer (t) during the entire duration of a manuever. Secondly, get in the habit of returning the stick to center immediately after you release trim. FINALLY, go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common, and edit the fmoptions.lua file. At the very least, double the HelicopterTrimmerZonePitch, HelicopterTrimmerZoneRoll, and HelicopterTrimmerZoneRudder values. Mine are currently 0.1, 0.1, and 0.2 respectively. They are way too small by default, IMO.
