I am trying to add a third monitor for my BS pit by adding an older PCI vid card. When I boot up my com after installing the card it only lets me use the old card. Both cards are seen by device manager and are "working properly". The card I'm adding is a Gforce MX440. Any help would be great.

ACPI x86 based PC, Windows 7 64Bit, AMD Phenom IIX4 965 3.4GHZ, NVIDIA GTX 560, 8 GB RAM, 1 32" primary monitor, Track IR, Saitek pedals, custom cyclic with CH Pro base, custom collective, both using BUO836X cards

There's probably a BIOS setting for VGA priority. Are both video cards being listed under display properties?

In BIOS, under Primary Video Controller, it list the following options:

GFXO-GPP-IGFX-PCI

GPP-GFXO-IGFX-PCI

PCI-GFXO-GPP-IGFX

IGFX-GFXO-GPP-PCI

The PCI-GFXO-GPP-IGFX option is highlighted now. Both cards are listed in Device Manager under Display Adaptors. Everywhere else it just sees the older PCI card.

Thanks for the reply

I am just taking a guess since I don't have personal experience with mixing PCI-E and VGA card at the same time... but from those 4 optios you have listed it seems you have integrated graphics also (IGFX)? It might be that motherboard does not suport running both video cards at the same time... they can be recognised by the OS as drivers are there but can't be used at the same time... not sure really so you might need to search on the net if anyone else has got something like this working.

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

The first thing I'd do is look for an option to DISABLE the onboard video if you're not using it. My next suggestion would be just to try the different options listed there, as they're simply prioritizing the video cards. Since it's got PCI first, that's what gets turned on. If you give me more info like the mainboard and bios version you've got, as well as both video cards and interface (PCI-E/AGP/Onboard/whatever), I'll see if I can help. I'm personally running both PCI-E and PCI video cards on a machine that also has an onboard GPU. That's not to guarantee your system has the options to do it, but it should be possible.

I got the idea from BadCrC, I'll try with him. I know that's how he hooked up his Shkval monitor. Thanks for the input.
