S77th-konkussion Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Well for reasons unknown- one of my video cards was screeching when came home this AM.. Fan had dropped, or sagged.. whatever. and was rubbing against the case of the card. Anyway- Took whole thing apart, and after an exhaustive but fruitless inspection -trying to locate a reason for the fan to have so much play on the shaft-- a little Dremel action, a little filing.. open up the hole a bit / create a little clearance.. bada bing! Quieter than new... But what would cause the fan to sag down? Everything seemed to be OK visibly. No missing retainer clips, etc.. The fan was just suddenly able to sag down and start dragging on the case.. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]

EtherealN Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Fff, wuss. My Asus EEE did keeps it's warranty longer than customary though - I think it was a full month before I overclocked it's Intel GMA GPU. :P (Though technically that's not really an overclock - those things have underclocked and undervolted GPU's to save on battery time.)
