Hey guys, I love the feel of the X65F but I have one question before I buy.... I noticed the throttle that I tried at Frys Electronics had a strange detent feelings at both ends..I know it should have one at each end but it felt more like it had 2 detents and some odd not so smooth resistance between the 2 detent at both ends. Is this normal and can I (like i did with my X52) open the bottom up and take out these detents so I have a smooth fluid motion throughout the travel? Thanks

If you use the two throttles unlocked and move them together, which means the palm of your hand is aligning them, you feel like there two detents one after the other. But if you move them locked with the pin, them you feel one solid detent at each end.

About removing/adjusting them, i'm not sure, i haven't opened the throttle yet, but looking in the pictures in this forum, the round bumps in the "magazine", which i think are the detents, don't look like could be changed. But i'm not sure.

I have the X65 and to be honest, The throttle is ok to me. I noticed the detents but I thought it was for idle and Afterburner. I very rarely use the throttle unlocked as the sims I do fly do not need a seperate throttle, well DCS 10-c but that is usually after I lose an engine.

I am beginning to believe I am less sensitive to some of these issues as none of them bother me.

When I first got the stick the throttle was very stiff but now after several months, like 4, it is smooth as silk and stays where I set it. I guess to me it feels just like the X-52's throttle so maybe I am not sensetive to the issue.

I know some folks have reported a non centering stick, but so far mine is rock solid unless it comes unplugged and I try to reattach the s cable then it jacks the alignment and I have to exit the game and unplug then reattach the s cable. I have to admit I am figuring out a way to make sure the s cable stays attach as is an irritant to me.

About the stiffness of the throttle. It is summer here so the first time i used the throttle it as very light, even too much that i end up tightening the adjust screw about 3 turns. But a few days later on a very unusual cold day it as very stiff, so i turn back the screw to the minimum. The grease they use is very sensitive to temperature.

The issue i mentioned of the detents is not a deal breaker, just a little bit annoying specially if the plane you using don't have a need for afterburner detents, like the A-10. Of course you could always adjust the outside dead-zones so you don't need to cross the detents, since the throttle have a large zone in the middle. This can be done in the Saitek Control Painel, if i'm not mistaken.

Just found this post in SimHQ saying you can remove the detents:

Detents:

Each throttle axis has both idle and afterburner detents. When both throttles are locked together, the detent has a very reassuring feel to it. Detents are caused by 2 small pieces of hardware inside the throttle base which can be removed when flying choppers/prop planes. I didn't remove them because I am playing only Falcon.

Hey guys, first post here.

I am the creator of the above simhq forum post, i'm more active over there.

Foxy Analyser is part of the Foxy 4.0 programming software for TM Cougar.

Just google for it.

My experience with Saitek X65 is only with Falcon, but feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks, just found it. I through it was a separate program.

I need to fix mine into something, no way i can make straight lines without having to hold down the stick with the other hand.

Any tutorials on how to remove the detents, change the lube on the throttle, and/or change out the awful unsheilded/unferrited PS/2 cable? I was thinking about a heating pad/plate under the throttle on low, but they produce so much RFI/EMI, that it would make the rudder axis worthless. The detents definitely need to go.

Has anyone had problems with full ailerons to the left after about 30minutes of gameplay with the X65 ??

I went in and adjusted the deadzone for the stick and it got better, but I can still see that the ailerons are stuttering up and down.

Can this be helped with ferrites ??

Probably not, I would send it in for repairs. Mine has never done such a thing. Alternatively I have had problems where other controllers would conflict with the axis inputs, you could check to make sure that isn't happening.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Hmm, I think I solved it...

The deadzone in DCS A10 had been zeroed under the time I flew the mission... HOW is that ??
