Hello,

Could someone explain the proper use of the bullseye/anchor point? I understand it is a common point shared by friendlies in the same general area, but what exactly would be the purpose? Like a rally point?

Also, I have a hard time understanding the "hooking" function. Maybe I could get some help on that. The nav tutorial is well made, but only gives a glimpse of the more intricate functions of the system.

I have read the manual :) but maybe I just need a simpler explanation

I have used FMS and various others in RL but this has me stumped

Bullseye is used for position reports relative to it, ie bogey, bullseye 180, 60 means there is a unknown aircraft 60nm south from bulldeye. Everyone can then place him more or less accurately. Same goes for friendly pos reports since if some does manage to listen in on freq they will have no idea what the actual position of the aircraft is.

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

It can be used for several things, rally point being one of them. Note though that you would not necessarily use the bullseye itself as the rally point - you might anchor for rejoin at something like "Bullseye 270 for 20 angels 20" or something like that. Similarly, if you initiate lost wingman proceedures or for any reason need to report positions, you can say that your position is "Bullseye 90 for 65 angels 5". The beauty here is that even if the enemy manages to listen in, they don't have the foggiest about where your pre-briefed Bullseye is. If you were to give straight coordinates they'd know where to steer their radars to find you. :)

It also helps since it gives a very easy frame of reference for everyone to help coordinating multi-wing formations or deconflict, IFF if the interrogator fails and so on. Talking about east north minutes and seconds here and there would take too much time compared to just looking at your HSI and draw a mental arrow on top of it.

You can cycle thru the mark points you create by switching your Auxiliary Avionics Panel (AAP) Steerpoint Dial from Flight Plan to Mark. Then you can use either your steerpoint toggle switch on the Up Front Controller (UFC) or switch the HUD as SOI (Sensor of Intrest) and hit the DMS switch up or down.

Your marks begin with the letter A and you can assign new ones all the way up to the letter Z. The next one you create after Z will restart at A, and begin the cycle again.

Correction, Z markpoints are special ones created each time you launch a weapon. I do not think you can use Z for something else.

Markpoint Z is great, i use it has a "Ctrl-Z" (Undo) for the TGP, since sometimes i press the china-aft(reset/boresight) by mistake i can just press TMS-DOWN-LONG on mark Z and it slew back to the enemy.
