Migo Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I finally finished my flight seat and used the pedals for the first time. I'm not able to make precise adjustments with them unless I set the curvature to 50. Are the pedals meant to be so rough ? I want to make small aiming adjustments or taxi turns and end up doing 45° turns. What are your settings ? In which situations a real pilot would use rudder input ? greetz Migo
Flamin_Squirrel Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I think I'm correct in saying that in the A-10 you'd use rudder for taxi, crosswind take-off/landing, and that's about it.
ACUTech Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 You're correct :) =ACU=Tech TECH Systemes Computer 1 Computer 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Migo Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 What about pipper fine tuning and the flight tutorial says something about using the ruder in turns.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 What about pipper fine tuning and the flight tutorial says something about using the ruder in turns. From what I've read, A-10 pilots are trained not to use rudder to adjust aim. Rudder deflection is required in a turn to provide coordination (look up coordinated turns if you're unsure of what that means - I'll try and help if it doesn't make sense) however, this is provided by the SAS (when it's engaged) so the pilot doesn't actually need to initiate the rudder movement in this case - the plane does it for them.
KillaALF Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I have no problems when taxiing or otherwise with my Pro Pedals (plugged into my Cougar). Deadzone = 10, curvature = 15
ZaltysZ Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I finally finished my flight seat and used the pedals for the first time. Welcome to the proper flight simming. Expect about 1 month to pass before you completely get used to pedals. Time and practice is needed for legs to learn how to be less clumsy and work in coordinated way. After that, you won't even look back. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
Tailspin45 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Biggest problem with jet jocks transitioning to props or, worse, a taildragger, always seems to be getting them to learn to use their feet (that and use less than 60% of throttle for idle). But I'm with Migo, its practically impossible to taxi with standard axis response. Had to dial mine waaaaaay down. 'Course 9 out of 10 times they aren't recognized, but that's a different thread.
