Crappy Joysticks?

Anybody else here running the Warthog on a cheap joystick? I bought my joystick new for $25. I can wobble it left and right with an inch of play before it gives any input. I bought this when Black Shark first came out.

 

I'm bad for getting into certain games and getting bored of them so I started with a cheap joystick. It's a Saitek ST290.

 

It's so bad that when I'm coming in for CCRP weapons release I have to use my keyboard to help level my wings. I'm just curious if I'm the only one here flying the Warthog with a cheap joystick.

 

The only good thing is the twist handle, it's great for taxiing.

If you're looking for a cheap joystick with excellent feeling I can advise the Thrustmaster T16000M. No sloppy feel at all, wish the (expensive) Warthog had more of this feeling :-)

Just a reminder/warning for people without experience with multiple controllers:

AFAIK every Logitech joystick and even HOTAS Cougar (sic!) use the same JUNK pots which will shoot signal spikes after a week or so.

Avoid them at all costs! :disgust:

 

Even cheap SAITEK joystick as Cyborg Evo uses better (completely different) potentiometers (EDIT: But stay away from the new Cyborg series e.g. Cyborg X and newer!

The word better is inadequate here and I can't find proper English word to describe the HUGE difference between SAITEK pots and Logitech/COUGAR JUNK pots. Lets just say that almost 2 years old potentiometers in SAITEK Cyborg Evo have cleaner signal than 2 weeks old Logitech junk pots.

 

I don't have time nor money to sue them but I can share the info at least.
