britgliderpilot Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 This time in an Su33 - the extra two pylons are helpful for dealing with the AAA. Approach is pretty much the same as it is for the S300, with the exception of the Vulcan. Unlike the Shilka, the Vulcan doesn't give you a radar warning . . . . so you don't know when it's about to open fire. Dodging bullets is always fun - just got to do it long enough to line up a shot. Got a track from this one, but will take me a little while to get it uploaded. Again, track not recorded on the same flight as the photos. Yep, that's a SAM site. Yep, that's tracer. That's the Vulcan out of the way - S25s to do that. Nice big missile - big blast radius, very neat. Another S25 at the radar trucks. S13s for more radar vehicles. Burning away happily . . . . Clusterbombs for the launchers - this is another bonus about the Patriot, the layout makes it easier to destroy . . . . Mmmmn . . . . Iron bomb to deal with the one remaining launcher. And a flyby of a destroyed Patriot site . . . . SUBS17 Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Nice flying, one of my favourites is to bomb up with cluster bombs and do a lob/toss on those AAA. Probably can't do that with a patriot in the area though. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
britgliderpilot Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 Nice flying, one of my favourites is to bomb up with cluster bombs and do a lob/toss on those AAA. Probably can't do that with a patriot in the area though. It's not too bad on that front, actually - this site was on Excellent, and still didn't get me. Besides, I think the radar on the Patriot is directional - fly out behind it and it can't get you. The reason I use rockets on AAA is because I don't have to spend so long aiming. AAA gets you too easily if you're not maneuvring . . . . I like to set up a twisty approach and trigger the rockets just as the pipper floats across the target. No predictable run-in :) The Vulcan's hard to spot, but once the tracer's coming up at you then it's easier to deal with than a Shilka. 4x23mm tracer streams is just nasty . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
britgliderpilot Posted June 11, 2005 Author Posted June 11, 2005 Bump for track file. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
KILSEK Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Hi all. YES SIR, I gained a appreciation for the 33 and have been flying it alot here lately. A2A, A2G, great maneuvering, speed, and carrier ops, I truely do enjoy flying that bird. I have been working on a campaign with the 33 and it is great to be able to set up air and ground threats, and be able to engage both. It is so cool to go and engage the enemy then fly back to the carrier that is 100nm off the coast, and get that catch that 3rd wire trap. :D -KILSEK
