StrongHarm Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Is there a bug in Beta4 that causes the CCIP/RP computation to be slightly off to the east? I created a mission on the same airfield test range that's in the tutorials. I loaded up a lot of MK82s and went for the same tank several times. I dropped singles for the purpose of testing, and all of my bombs created a nice little pattern about 200ft to the right of tank, whether I was in from north or south. Anyone else experience this? I tried realigning to a known waypoint landmark and that didn't seem to help. I created the mission by copying one of the old training missions and editing it... could that be the cause? It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
PhoenixBvo Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 What about wind? Nate--IRL-- Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 If you could provide a track from that mission it might be easier to see your problem. Does the mission have wind in it? Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
StrongHarm Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Yes.. there was some pretty heavy wind. That was my problem. I have zero accuracy when there's wind (track DumbBombs.trk). I removed the wind from the mission and destroyed everything with a big grin (DumbBombsNowind.trk) It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Dynamo Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 StringHarm, you could try and enter the wind speed and direction into the CDU, I havn't yet tried this, but it is on my "to-do" list, and seeing if the targetting computer uses this to aim off for the target. On the CDU -> Sys(tem) -> LASTE -> Wind. In here you can enter the wind speed/direction for various different altitudes, and I beleive this will have an 'impact' on your bomb impact location. I guess you need to note the wind from the briefing, or mission editor. I think the JTACs will also give you a correction too. Or I guess you just manually aim off, trial and error routine. Shame JTAC doesn't give you a "short, adjust 100m east" call and so on, but what it does do is great! At work at the moment, but wanting to go try this myself...
Migo Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Shame JTAC doesn't give you a "short, adjust 100m east" I don't think a JTAC has time to measure the wind during combat.
