Weaponz248 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Here is a mission I made. It was more of a learning experience for me but the mission I feel turn out neat. Its simple and kinda fun. It is a good JTAC trainer if nothing else! Enjoy! Its also the first I have done so any feedback would be welcomed. P.S. Beta 4

It is a good JTAC trainer if nothing else! Enjoy! Its also the first I have done so any feedback would be welcomed. P.S. Beta 4 Sounds like I need to load it up and fly it, now that there is going to be a reason to learn the JTAC! Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. BTTW-DratsaB Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I too need to next learn about this JTAC malarkey. Thanks! When you where learning the JTAC procedures did you learn from the manual/ a training vid/ a forum post etc? Any tips appreciated. Thanks! When you where learning the JTAC procedures did you learn from the manual/ a training vid/ a forum post etc? Any tips appreciated. A combo of all three kind of. And a lot of trail and error. Over all I was just doing it over and over. In this mission its a lot of repetive calling to JTAC but gets you into the habit of hearing JTAC and following his orders. So best thing you can do is watch some vids on youtube and read the GUI manual and if you still have question ask.
Gunnergolly Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Thanks for your effort Weaponz Just what i've been looking for !!!... I was just about to have a go at making a really simple JTAC practice mission for myself tonight... Now i no longer have any excuse for not learning all this JTAC stuff !!... Cheers.... shagrat Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) One thing to take care off, though. When the JTAC is thru with the 9-Line ("ready to copy remarks" etc.) ask for the remarks - after that you HAVE to trigger the readback by calling JTAC again. This initiates the "Readback correct. Uploading data" -> burst transmission with target location to your TAD. After that you have a "new task" (or the like?) pop up on your MFCDs. Now confirm the Task with "WILCO" on the left side of the TAD or reject with "CNTCO" on the right. Took me some time to figure out that I have to call JTAC again for the readback after the 9-line and remarks. Also don't be hasty with the comms, let the JTAC finish his stuff before openening comms menu again. The next options are only available when he is finished. According to Weapon type or scenario the interaction varies. You might run in on IP and ask JTAC to "mark" the target with a laser ("Sparkle!") or at daytime he will use WP Smoke to mark a target... It is useful to confirm sighting the target. All in all it's a very real experience and very helpful, especially at night when you have trouble spotting some bloody APCs hiding in the woods. Also you can lock a TGT up with your TGP/MAV/TAD and then request contact from the JTAC menu(option 4 or 5 IIRC) and JTAC will confirm that your locked TGT is correct.
BTTW-DratsaB Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 It's a great mission for learning JTAC, so thanks again! However, I have run into some confusion while learning. I pretty much have complete success using the TAD, Acknowledging the task, then Setting the red data linked triangle as SPI with the TAD cursor and then proceeding to TGP to slave to the SPI, then attack. What I don't understand is when the other method of using JTAC I have seen explained comes in to it:- Where you enter the Coordinates given by the JTAC into the CDU to make a new Mark point. Why would you use this method if you can just hook the Datalinked TAD marker? One other odd situation that confused me: When I first tried the above mission I was using a combination of the coordinate input method and the Red triangle method. When the JTAC called out the coords (KM0525671) of the First target, I entered them into the CDU and made a new mark point (as per the various tutorials and manual). I could see a new Mark point on the TAD, I then slave the TGP to the area but I could see nothing there. I then proceeded with the JTAC comms, where he sent me the DataLink target. I noticed it was quite bit away from the coordinates given to me. I destroyed the target using the red triangle and moved on to the second. This time the coordinates given (km0521650), when entered, gave me the exact location of the first target I just destroyed. The Data linked red triangle gave me the correct location..I destroyed it. As before, the Third targets Coords gave me the exact location of the second target I just destroyed, but the Datalinked info gave the right location of the third target. Any ideas what is going on there? Sorry if its too confusing. Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. This happened to me on another mission when I was tasked with spare ammo after completing a Tank run. Checked in w/ JTAC, got coordinates and "Marked by Willi Pete" (WP Smoke marker) , put the coordinates to a mark point, confirmed coordinates. JTAC marked the Target, I confirmed visual contact w/ WP Smoke and now he gave directions based on the Smoke position. "300 meters to the east". If I remember correctly there was no data burst! Also he made me continue 3 runs on 3 Target groups based on the marker. BMPs T-72s and BRDM... awesomeness +10 :sorcerer: 2) seems there is a bug... It wouldn't surprise me if it is user error, but I cant think what things I could be doing wrong to get such an odd result. I would be interested to know what Weaponz248 thoughts are. Weaponz248 Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 Hey Guys Thanks for the Feedback. I will fire up the mission today and run thru it again to see what I can do about the Coordinate thing. To be honest I always use the TAD and lock up the red mark. I will let you know what i get.
Juuba Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Any chance to get an update for this mission in Final version? few issues I notice... - the AH-64s collide/crash on takeoff on the taxi way. I squeezed between the F-15Es and the AH-64Ds in the taxi.. I got everyone airborne.. But.. The JTAC never came "active" on the radios.. I tuned "52.00" on VHF FM radio - but the line stayed blacked out. UZI-1 said at some point that "On station" but I couldn't contact him Should I wait more? Another note, the radio menu says (for cold and uzi) their channel as "Pilot #9 (Colt11) 50 MHz AM..." "Pilot #6 (Uzi11) 52 MHz AM..." Even if i'm under VHM FM radio menu. What is going on here? =) Sometimes I Amaze even Myself!
Weaponz248 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Juuba I will be going over that mission this week and getting it up to par. I will post it up when its ready. Thank you for your interest and stay tuned should be a quick update to it!
