Yoni63 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I was just messing around decided to do that "unguided bombs" training, didn't want to listen to the virtual instructor so just headed to WP3 intending to drop my bombs. Im decending out of 19K at about 3 to 500 fpm, range at my 3 o'clock, gentle roll to the right, power back to 20% for the run in.... and.... that sickening sound of the (both) engines passing 20% for 0% enters my ears.. abort.. set best glide speed possible, 3 attempts to air start.. nothing... jettison stores (over water of course..), Nice glide into the airfield off of the range LOL. Anyone else have this happen? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]HP d5000T/Vista SP1/Intel® Core 2 Quad CPU Q9490 @ 2.66 Ghz 3.00 GB Ram/32 bit OS/Nvidia GeForce 9500GT.
Feed Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Yes - but I was messing around putting max deflection on all inputs at once (flying like a maniac), just to see what would happen. Both engines failed, also failed to restart before crashing as smoothly as possible. :D
rextar Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Throttle back reset engines and hit reignite Intel i5 3.2 ghz 8 GB crucial ram gtx 660 superclocked 2gb 500watt corsair psu win7 64bit extreme pro track ir5 Turtle beach x12
Yoni63 Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Throttle back reset engines and hit reignite Did exactly that.. nothing. I had plenty of time to experiment, nothing seemed to work this time. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]HP d5000T/Vista SP1/Intel® Core 2 Quad CPU Q9490 @ 2.66 Ghz 3.00 GB Ram/32 bit OS/Nvidia GeForce 9500GT.

GGTharos Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 You probably destroyed the engines :D Yes - but I was messing around putting max deflection on all inputs at once (flying like a maniac), just to see what would happen. Both engines failed, also failed to restart before crashing as smoothly as possible. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
bradleyjs Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Well this doesn't actually apply to this thread but if I "Air-Start" a mission and I have my TM HOTAS throttles in the Eng Stop position -- I lose both engines immediately... I almost always do a cold-start from the ramp and reset my throttles and switches after each mission.... But, sometime I forget to go to "flight-idle" before starting a non-cold-start mission... sobek Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 You have to operate the throttles slowly when going down to flight idle, i've had that flameout happen to me several times. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
