Lonecrow66 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Which software do you guys use to record your desktop and your missions to be uploaded to youtube. Obviously it has to be able to record .flv files. I've not seen any free ones without watermarks or some sort of identifying marks. Are there any good free desktop recorders out there? Then when you have all the videos, which programs are you using to edit the movies? I used to use Windows Movie Maker.. was simple.. --- May your takeoffs equal your landings!
ReaperLV Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Why desktop recorders? Just use fraps and record in-game footage [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Youtube Channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/LVreaper
CarneyUK Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I think the main point Lonecrow was trying to make was a FREE recorder. I was looking at FRAPS until I realised it was gonna cost more cash (still trying to save for a TM Warthog :) ) I think most people use FRAPS, but I have never seen a free one without watermarks or some time limit on them! Bucic Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) THE ultimate solution is the DCS/FC2 built-in RECORD AVI - a Mission Editor tool Not only it's free, it has core functionality no other recorder can match. If you, however, insist on inferior screen recorders: http://taksi.sourceforge.net/ http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html http://www.wegame.com/ Edited February 11, 2011 by Bucic F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
slamraamproductions Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 The free version of Fraps is not a bad choice. You can simply cut away that fraps.com on top of the footage. When you have a 1680x1050 screen like me, that's what you always should do, to get a 16:9 ratio, which gives full screen at youtube. And when you add pan/crop, you also get a more natural feeling of the video, for example, you can show the aircraft at the left side of the screen, instead of the middle position you get in the default DCS/FC views. Free version of Fraps has 30 seconds of recording limit but that should not be a problem, at least not for me. <==DCS Flaming Cliffs 3: Operation Grand Slam <==Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2 Tribute

Bucic Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Make sure you know the golden tip :) Record the Track with FRAPS at Half/Quarter Simulation Speed. Once captured, Speed it up 2X/4X to it's original speed in Vegas and Voilà no more Slideshow :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
DTWD Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 And you don't need to compress your video to FLV, youtube does that for you, or mp4 depending on what res your uploading it at. Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Bucic Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 And you don't need to compress your video to FLV, youtube does that for you, or mp4 depending on what res your uploading it at. Of course not. In fact YouTube will accept some of the lossless compression formats as long as the files will meet size limitation. Where has he gotten that idea anyway? :) F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Woots Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Look into anyvidoeconverter for post processing. Can take any format and convert/compress and save to a different format. I use it to compress my fraps recording way down so I can post to youtube easier. Here's an example 30 sec clip using fraps and anyvideoconverter http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1104977&postcount=1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
