Moa Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 What Cali means is a R-77/AIM-120 followed by another missle, SAHR or AHR. That way the target will look at his RWR for a range and it will show the first missile. If he does the last second dodge on the first missile unrealistically using the RWR, then the second missle is there for a nasty surprise. Yeah, it's easy to maneuver to defeat a single missile (provided you know about it) but hard to also retain enough energy after this to defeat another a few seconds later. Same goes for SAMs.
volk Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 On 3 July 1988, Vincennes, under the command of Captain Will Rogers III, fired two radar-guided missiles... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Vincennes_(CG-49) --- Osprey, Combat Aircraft (053) - F-15c Eagle Units In Combat, p.15 That's in real life with real threats.
Adder1606688006 Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Interesting that they would be salvoing missiles. I wonder if that approach is still taken with the AIM-120.
Cali Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Interesting that they would be salvoing missiles. I wonder if that approach is still taken with the AIM-120. I know in DS the thing was still to fire 2 missiles, I don't know what spacing/time they fired them. Either 2/5/7 or 10+ seconds they were taught to fire 2, cause they miss and aren't 100%. Which Is how it is in FC2, so I don't understand why people get so mad when they fire one and it misses. Either it be the netcode/bandit's internet connection (as long as it's not too bad) the apsect or it just doesn't track. It happens in the game and it happens in real! i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Adder1606688006 Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Plus the game would be rather dull indeed if every launch was a guaranteed kill!
Cali Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 There called miss'iles for a reason, they don't hit everytime. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
RIPTIDE Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Plus the game would be rather dull indeed if every launch was a guaranteed kill! Its a matter of probablity. Fire two missiles with a 80% chance of hit for each missile, you get a 96% probability that one will hit. ... I think. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
