barra733 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 ... but have heard a few horror stories of people losing there whole BS profiles and settings. Anyone here got any experience of this? I've also been advised that I can only upgrade to Windows 7 32 bit, as I'm currently running Windows Vista 32 bit... any thoughts? Whilst I'm asking questions, does anyone have any experience of using touchscreens with BS? I've managed to pick up a second hand 7 Inch screen and was hoping to get it to display some of the buttons and displays. I've seen a few Utube videos of how simple it is to make buttons but am a bit concerned about how I'd go about getting the Abris and Shkval onto the screen? Helios/touch buddy - Any thoughts or advice? Thanks for any help offered...
Pyroflash Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 As far as Windows goes, Yes, 32 bit Vista only upgrades to 32 bit 7. My advice though, don't do the upgrade. It leaves a lot of stuff behind on your computer that you probably couldn't care less about anyways. Instead, do yourself a favor in the long term and do a complete reformat/install of windows 7; and in any case, if you are worried about settings or profiles, make sure to back up your stuff before you do anything. 1 If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
EtherealN Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 What Pyroflash said. Also, that gives you the chance to go for 64-bit instead, and there really is no reason to gimp a computer through staying with 32-bit nowadays. Pilotasso Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 My sister installed windows 7 yesterday. She then used the external USB hard drive, and it caused the system to freeze every time she tried. Upon updating windows using the auto updater the problem was gone. The specific fix is this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972 .

Pyroflash Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) Pro and Ultimate are a waste of money. All versions of Windows starting with Home Premium have the exact same features, some may be locked, but they are all there, and it doesn't cost an extra $100 to unlock those features either; In fact, it doesn't cost anything. Well, anything more than it would normally cost you to boot up your computer and go to a free tech help forum. Though enabling a x86-32 OS boot may require some editing of sensitive system files; and I would not recommend doing this anyway as booting in 32 bit nowadays only causes more problems than it solves(which is basically nothing now that almost everything nowadays is 64 bit compatible to begin with).
