dwardlow Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Flaming Cliffs 2 found throttle,pedals,stick-all usb on high end Falcon Northwest system running win7/64bit. Worked ok except it wouldn't find the throttle. Screwed around the in game options and on line fourms for about a week now- no luck. Unstalled game and patch-reinstalled game and patch and now fc2 won't even find any ch contollers. Shows keyboard/mouse only. Sent uk a email and no answer. Been doing flight sims since Microsoft and all the rest were babies- never seen such a bs set up like this. Any help would maybe let me put the gun down!:helpsmilie:
ACUTech Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Ok, did you install the CH Control Manager? What are your system specs? Do the CH peripherals appear in your device manager? Since you've been doing flight sims since microsoft(?), I suppose you are familiar with axis configuration? Hundreds/thousands of simmers here don't find this setup is such "bs"... Oh, and welcome to the forums! =ACU=Tech TECH Systemes Computer 1 Computer 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dwardlow Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 thanks for answering. Device mgr shows all ch products working-I do have ch manager installed. What I don't get is Flaming Cliffs 2 option menu wiil find all three ch controllers and the next time I start the game it only finds keyboard/mouse. When it does find ch the prp pedals won't work. As for system spec what do need? i-7 quad-6870 vid-8gig ram-7200wdhd
ACUTech Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Depending on how you've setup your CH profile in control manager, you devices might be combined into 1 device, something like "CH Control Manager Aux1", or something similar, can't recall, not using CH atm but the pedals. See if something like this appears ingame =ACU=Tech TECH Systemes Computer 1 Computer 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
104th_Crunch Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The sim will see whatever Windows sees. If there is a problem it is not the sim. Next time they disappear in the sim, go to the game controller applet in Windows, not device manager, and see if they are showing correctly there.
dwardlow Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Thanks for your help. I'm finding a brick wall searching for game controller applet in win 7. Comes up no results every way I try. What I don't understand is why Lock on works fine after messing around a little in options but Flaming Cliffs 2 doesn't even see the ch products over half the time when loading the game. No other flight has ever done this and I own dozens dating back to the mid 90's. The other fellow said hundreds/thousands of other simmers don't have problems with this set up. Thats why the sim sites are full of complaints and all this uk company wants to do is release new products. Should fix what they already have. Small companys need money but if the original works then one would think the expand pack would too! oh well nice to chat with you.
GhostDog Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The first thing I would do is uninstall CH manager. Windows doesn't need the application to recognize and configure CH controls, and unless you have some particular configuration that absolutely needs CH manager, all it is likely to do is cause conflicts. The documentation even discourages installing the software unless your machine has problems recognizing the controllers without it. Then: 1. Disconnect all your CH peripherals and reboot your machine. 2. Reconnect your CH controls one at a time and verify that Windows successfully recognizes them. 3. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. You'll find the icons for each of your CH controllers in this window. 4. Right click on one of the CH controller icons and select 'game controller settings' in the context menu. 5. Highlight the controller you want to calibrate and click 'properties'. 6. Click the settings tab, and click the 'calibrate' button. Complete the calibration process. 7. Repeat the calibration process for each of your CH controllers. If you're still having problems with controller configuration in FC2 after this, report back, and we'll go from there. WarriorX Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 FYI dwardlow, the quick way to find the game controller applet in Win 7 is to go to the Start Menu and type "USB Game Controllers" in the search box. Then select the USB game controllers app. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Is that you John Wayne?.......Is this me?" 104th_Crunch Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Thanks-I'm not to bad at computers after all these years but win 7 is a hand full at times. Forgot to type usb the first time I tried- your way worked out much better. All ch controllers working fine. Thanks again Are they showing there though in the applet when FC2 loses them? Alt+tab to verify. I have an issue with CH where after switching to a new profile they will sometimes disappear in the applet. I have to restart Windows. It is rare for me, but happens. Again, if you have the same issue, it will have nothing to do with FC2, but rather your hardware. I posted on the CH site, and with the excellent support there tried a few things that helped.
