jazjar Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Just watched it, very interesting movie for a history guru like me! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Peyoteros Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Not sure there was anything close to the history... I like it too thou... "Eagle Dynamics" - simulating human madness since 1991 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ۞ ۞
Scarecrow Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Watched that film, liked it too, isn't it funny how one ninja is almost completely lethal but 20 of them are pretty easily defeated? I mean they should be twenty times more effective than one or maybe there is some vector addition going on so 20 should be at least 10 times more effective than one;) You should try reading Shogun by James Clavell, it's a great book, don't know about the accuracy of the cultural history/commentary but Last Shogun seemed to have beeen inspired by the plot of this book.
Teej Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Book too long. Watch the miniseries. ;) "Tank! I need a program for a TM Warthog!" jazjar Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Japan's modernazation period displayed in the movie is kind of accurate, everything else is the usual fiction stuff... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jinro Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I read a book a while back about the true version of "The Last Samurai". His name was Saigo Takamori, and he lead a rebellion similar to the one depicted in the movie. If I recall correctly, it was the Satsuma Rebellion.
