Hi all

I am new to all this and having purchased a TM Warthog, as i was told it was the best, I find that the way they describe setting up the crontols for various games is not as easy as they say. My thought is that with this thread those who have the experience can help noobs like myself and others as well as sharing ideas and info so we all benefit. As an example it seems that the left throttle controls the rudder in MS X flight sim for example and in other games throttle is 100% or off as the keyboard command does one thing only. These are issues that i hope experienced people can help with. Thanks

Welcome Lazaris,

I program mine directly in game. I do not use TARGET. I only fly DCS:BS, DCS:A-10C and FC2 so I can't speak about the myriad of other flight sims / games.

I beleive there are still some issues with TARGET but check the forums for the details.

Lazaris.

In most games the axis must be set ingame. If you can t setthe axis its a game limitation. In old games this is especially true as when they where built there was a much bigger axis and button limitation.

There also the fact that a lot of game doesn t accept/recognize 2 game controlers.

As for BS the throttle come with a pre-setting.

If i would cousel you, i would say to you to not program ingame. If able print the ingame settings and in the warthog/cougar program like foxit/TARGET.

It take times, its PITA but this way you can easely distribute the basic layers.

In the warthog i would recomend the S4 for in out and the pinky as U,M,D.

Dont be afraid to screw some presetting programing in favor to a more extensive, more intuitive programing to you.

Its not like you gonna climb inside an A10, pilots have much more buttons availiable :)

Another counsel. Set yourself a programing in a game you like and play/ will play much. Program so you feel confortable. Then, try to replicate the same mindset/button function distribution in each other game. This way you minimise the re-learn factor each time you fly another game.

I am starting to do this myself with DCS A10 myself. This mean i will have to re-learn a new mindset and then adapt to the other games like BS, FC2 su33, ROF, IL2COD, Xterran, F4 and whatever comes around.

Its time taking, its brain frying, but it pays a lot in the end.

How 'bout posting this over at http://www.warthogworld.com ? Seems a better fit to a centralized Warthog information store rather than the IO subforum on ED's boards...

As for me, I've used (mostly) in game for A-10 since it comes set up pretty well.

For everything else i've done...I definitely set things up in TARGET. I've made an enhanced jagstang-like setup for F4AF and we definitely set up a profile for VTB flying.
