Hi Everyone

A question ....

I have downloaded Modman and installed but when i open the programe i get a message saying that it might not work because KA-50 is installed in Program Files

I go onto the Modman page and Black Shark is the highlighted game but no files are available

Can someone help in telling me where to install Modman

Do i need to reinstall BS first??

I am sorry about the question but i am stuck

Many Thanks

Steve

It's not good to install modman or blackshark in /program files. But, anyway, you need to download and put the mods (.zip or .rar compressed files) in \Modman\addons_dcs if you want to see them listed.

Thanks for the reply but i do not understand your comment about not being good to install either in program files. Do i need to reinstall both or just BS?

Any help appreciated

Hi Bodo, have clicked 'add' in modman but all files are empty

I don't really muck about with mods to be honest but when I have done I'm fairly sure I clicked 'add' near the top of the modman window and then browsed for the .rar file of the mod?

Small world Bodo.

I live in Ashington, just up the road

Have tried reinstalling Modman to a different location but keeps saying that BS is in installed in programe files. It cannot find a ROOT to BS v1.02 either (whatever that may be)

Do i need to reinstall BS?

I'd say you'd be better off doing so, yeah. I have my installation on a completely separate HDD.

backup any HOTAS configs and just reinstall somewhere else, I'd recommend a separate HDD if you have one/can get one.

Heh, yeh born in Ashington but moved about a bit till ending up back up here. been sunny today, but christ it's cold!

hah, yup..doubtful!

Just reread your post. The root of BS is the folder called "Ka-50" inside the Eagle Dynamics folder. Select the Ka-50 folder, that'll be the root. So, yeah, install the game, update to 1.02 and you should be good to go.

The reason ModMan advises the user not to install to Program Files/Ka-50 is that in windows Vista and 7 anything installed in the Program Files (Program Filesx86 I think on Windows 7) is read only by default. Because ModMan replaces some of the game files this sometimes doesn't work if you have the game installed under the default Progam Files directory. The game itself will work but mods may not.

The game can be installed in any other directory and then ModMan will work fine.

Hope that makes sense...?

Thanks Dark Fire

It is beginning to all make sense

Thank you

To Recap.....

I uninstall BS

I install Modman into C:\Modman

I reinstall BS into C:\Games\Black Shark

(Or similar to above)

Will this be ok??

Thanks again

Steve

Yes, that should work fine. Re-installing Black Shark is probably a good idea anyway. It behaves better if the latest patch is applied over a clean copy prior to installing & using ModMan.

Happy flying :)
