pcalvert Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 UFC test I've wired the UFC and configured it to the sim. Everything works except for two switches. I hope it's just a connection problem and not a switch failure as it will be easier to fix! I'm happy enough for now. I tested the floodlights under the UFC. I think it worked okay. I have given myself a three week deadline to complete the build and paint, and probably another two weeks to configure the software and hardware. Hopefully it will be complete by early November... Anyway - the latest pics........................... I just added the switches and hooked it up. I started the build Dec 2010 and have probably spent about £1000 but a lot of that was on new tools, wood.... and stuff like that. It depends on if you want just the panel or box and what shipping options etc. I don't even know if pitbldr is making and / or selling anymore, as I said you will have to ask him. I had to buy the switches, wire. and LED's.. it wasn't much... £15 to £20 pounds. I have to say though. I bought a replica A10C - UFC custom built! ... for what I consider is peanuts... compared to commercail hardware - that only ever works with FSX!! Maybe early next year. It is really good flying in it. I've just asked my neighbour if I can use her Garage to finish it off and she said okay. I don't have a garage - just a shed! I'm stripping it down thiis week and will move it next weekend. It will make a difference when it's completely done and I can take the time to set up the sim properly.... not long now! :).. Then its waiting when pit builder will have time and pacience to do the UFC and the warning panel so i can try start devising were will i put switches and then start building. I guess i ll only d finish it next year middle to fall. But so far the 37" TV is awesome for flying and gaming! The woodshop that cut near here doesn t do a suficient good job for somithing that need to be milimetricaly precise. And i don t have the tools not skill to do it myself. I have my contact its just that now on i ll have to ask for a cut wait for it to come, adjust or ask for a recut, it take times.... But i suppose next week i ll have my 22 monitor plank cut so i can start copying your inspiring work. I'm going to round off all the hard edges and finish the inside next weekend - then paint. I'm going to paint it light grey from the bottom - moving to dark grey on the top. I still may add more switches. If you look on the picture from above, there in space on the right hand side in front of the steps. The ribs on the fusalage are about 1/2" thick, so I could skin it and add the switches. I'll see how it goes - I could always do it later on. I'm going to order my phidgets board next month and would really like to add an AOA indicator on the canopy. Thanks Ragtop - Actually I really do want to get it finished, as you know every job you do there are another ten things to go along with it and it has been a long build! Anyway, I tested the pilot light wired to the switch panel and it worked fine. I have been looking at various pictures of the A10C and think the pit should have 'some' detailing to prevent it looking too bland! I found some graphic tape that I used to use on RC scale model builds and am going to use that to add some panel lines (not too many - just enough to break the 'smoothness' after the paint job). I've used the A10 pic - 'attached' as reference. I think we made quite a funny sight to passers by :) I've added some simple panel lines and am going to paint some other detail (not too much).. but I think it looks okay and hopefully less like a glider! I didn't in the end grade the colour... turns out my painting skills were pretty crap as well.. lol. So I kept things simple. I'll probably spend another day sorting inside the pit then start putting it all together.. should be ready by the weekend.. I'll see how it goes.. I'm having problems with one of the floodlights at the moment which is a total pain. I'm going to change some of the wiring and see If I can sort it. Just finishing off the seat and am putting all the USB cables into some sort of order. I'll try and do a full test tonight - then I'll re-mount the main screen. I've showed some pictures of the monitor mount inside the glider and the main monitor mount (they are both LCD monitor wall mounts). ..
