roob Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) I never seem to succeed in getting my nav data when I start the aircraft. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm waiting for the INS NAV READY to flash, then I hit "Load All" on OSB10 but it comes back empty. I've followed a start-up guide some user here has made but still nothing. I succeeded one time when I pressed every other button on the CDU but I can't do that all the time can I? :D I've uploaded a track of my last attempt if anyone has the time to watch it.wheresmynavdata.trk Edited March 30, 2011 by roob My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... recoil17 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Press the "NAV" button on the CDU after the flashing "INS NAV READY". If you have the CDU repeater page displayed on an MFC you will see the "NAV" button on OSB 9? I think it is? "Simultaneous selection of fuel dump and afterburner during high AOA maneuvering may cause fuel to ignite with resulting fuselage damage."
Garfieldo Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) When the "INS Nav Ready" starts flashing, you have to press the LSK next to "NAV" on the "System/INS/Align" subpage. It's the first page that is displayed if you don't fumble around with the CDU. This puts the systems into NAV mode. Then you get NAV data on the TAD. For the TAD to display your route/WPs, you have to turn the STEER PT dial on the AAP to FLT PLAN. Edited March 30, 2011 by Garfieldo
roob Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) Thanks guys! That worked excellent! :) I read some stuff in other threads but I always pressed the physical NAV button... -.- Edited March 30, 2011 by roob My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do... Garfieldo Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I'm glad it works. Have fun flying where you want to fly ;)
Itkovian Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think one of the best hints to learning your way around the avionics is learning what the symbols by the FSKs mean. Things like the pointing arrow takes you to another menu, the circle means to activate a function (like in this case, switching the CDU into NAV mode), and so forth. Once you get those, the logic of the CDU and other displays start making a lot more sense. Then its more a question of learning what each option actually does. :) Itkovian 1
roob Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Yeah I can pretty much navigate through the CDU. The training missions along with the manual helped very much. The start-up though seems to have it's flaws, like this here example. You never press the LSK NAV in that one :( Now when I finally got fly and spent an hour getting to the target, the game crashed! \o/ My DCS stream [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Past broadcasts, Highlights Currently too much to do...
