REL Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Hey guys Can we assign 2 different modifiers (my own custom modifiers) to 1 key? for example : [Joy Btn 1] + [Joy Btn 2] + A = Open canopy [ Modifier ] + [ Modifier ] + Key = Some action When I try this and press OK I'm geting an error message
BadWeather Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) I use custom modifiers. thats modifiers that I assigned as modifiers. two joystick buttons that I use both alone and together for other joystick buttons. I don't think I've used them for a key though. I'll go and give it a go. EDIT: yeah I got no errors on assingning two custom modofiers to a key. I even assigned two new key modifiers, the <-key and +-key, and put them to use with keys and joystick buttons: no errors. perhaps a reinstall? Edited April 11, 2011 by BadWeather
uri_ba Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) once a custom modifier has been assigned you cannot use it as a normal key. so setting up your trigger as a modifier for example would be a bad idea. I know it's a bit OT. But in my opinion (and aircraft designers) HOTAS should include the things needed the most and frankly, "right engine start", "canopy close", "APU gen ON", "landing gears", "flaps" and even "eject" don't fall IMHO under this category. in short, In my eyes, all the functions you use only once or twice during flight shouldn't be on the HOTAS, as they are not in RL. BadWeather Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Those were just examples I think. Furthermore I'm not sure assigning an already mapped button as a modifier would pop an error. just a message that the button in question is already in use or something like actions mapped to btn will no longer be valid. not sure though. Also some more information on the error message could be helpful.

I guess I just want to know if it is possible and this error message is just another bug that will be fixed . Edited April 11, 2011 by REL
BadWeather Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 well you seem to be the only one with this issue so far. As I already noted, I have no issues assigning keys or buttons as modifiers and no issues assigning one or more custom modifiers to keys/buttons. What error message are you getting?

The error : After I assign 2 different modifiers + Joy Key 2: ( L + Boat ) + Joy Key 2 and then press OK to save and exit.
BadWeather Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) from the looks of it you have only assigned L modifier to button 19 and the other combination doesn't show. If you want to use two modifiers like ctrl+alt+btn19 or L+R+btn19 on ADD window you have to press or select both modifiers and then press the action button. -You might want to clear the action first. I don't know what the error message means exactly though. And like uri_ba said, you can't have actions on a button assigned as a modifier. So you might want to make sure there are none. BTW you've done a clean install right? no left overs from beta like controller profiles for example? Edited April 11, 2011 by BadWeather

I've downloaded the 1.1.0.7 full version so I think I'll go ahead and install it... Thanks anyway BadWeather
