112th_Rossi Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 :D  I know how you feel ;) This! I went to the shop for some things, forgetting that I had stuck a reflective dot on my forehead. I bet they thought I was some kind of futuristic Hindu!
MTFDarkEagle Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Can you blame them? :P My headset can be disconnected with in-wire 3.5mm connectors, and I used it to listen to music in the mall, not realising the trackclip pro was also attached to it :D Only afterward I realised why people were looking at me funny :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
oritpro Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Yeah, I figured that - I hope I managed to get through that I didn't really mean to attack you with my response, merely just use it as an opportunity to elaborate for those who might not be familiar with these things. If I didn't manage that - my apologies. And wow, debugging drivers... I don't want your job. :D I knew exactly what you were saying and never took any of it or the other comments personally. I was just having a bit of fun. And I love my job! Why use a Kinect? There are solutions that require only a measly webcam and the two CPU cores that DCS isn't using (assuming you have a quad or sextuple Core). For example, see "Predator better than Kinect": http://www.i-programmer.info/news/105-artificial-intelligence/2310-predator-better-than-kinect.html That's only the tip of the iceberg - there are a lot of free and open-source tracking solutions emerging. Most of them are here now, so no need to hold your breath for Kinect. I had some ideas for the Kinect that went beyond just head tracking. Unfortunately it doesn't track very well when the subject is sitting down, Kinect wants to see the whole person. I'll pursue these ideas more when the official SDK is released since the OpenNI API is very much in an alpha state and is probably not exposing the devices full potential. If all else fails, I guess I'll buy an Xbox since I don't own one.
