Fish Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Is the difference enough to justify ditching the old version and buying the new one? Ive had all versions from V2. :director: If you don't have one, get V5. No brainer. If you have spare cash, then get the pro clip. If you got V3, then consider upgrade to V5. If you got V4, then upgrade to the Pro clip. And if u got lots of cash and V4, then get V5 and the clip. Mist3ri0 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) haven´t had any problems so far.i can´t compare it to other cams cause it´s the first one i tried but with ir filter removed and recommended ir LEDs i get 100% safe tracking at high fps with virtually no jitter.multicam driver worked fine from start except that the microphone doesnt work (i really couldn´t care less :-p ).the only little problem i had was that the freetrack software didnt save the settings i made for the cam and i had to check 2 boxes and adjust 2 sliders manually everytime.somehow this issue miraculously fixed itself after a while so everything works fine now  i don´t know how ebay prices in your country but i got mine for 10€ incl PP brand new so it´s well worth the try^^ Quote: Originally Posted by Mist3ri0 remember that you have to modify the trackir files with trackir-fixer in newer games to make freetrack work. sofie_59 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Is it not easier to just buy Naturalpoints Track ir rather than use a webcam whit shitty motion detection :music_whistling: And i thought that talking or inform about "Crack" was forbidden. jireland607 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I've just bought a PS3 eye, hopefully get a chance to set it up tonight. Bargain at £8 pre-owned from a shop. yonyz Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I hope you've got the old version of the PS3 Eye, as the newer one is a bitch when it comes to removing its IR filter.
jireland607 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I hope so, it was very dusty so guess it probably is one of the older ones. I'll probably test it on FaceTrackNoIR first before trying to get the filter out. ______________________________________________________________________________________ AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.4 Ghz | 8GB DDR3 Dual Channel | Ati HD4850 XFX | 22" Samsung TFT & NEC 17" touchscreen
Mist3ri0 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 try this driver . works fine for me on vista 32bit but should work on win7 and 64bit systems too.
jireland607 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Got it to work straight away! Makes a change for me to get something like that working first time.... I didn't have time to do much setup but I'm going to have a crack at setting up FaceTrackNoIR first. I've got my computer in quite a dark corner at the moment and found it struggled to keep a track on. The PS3 Eye works so much better in my low light situation. I'll have a fiddle with the settings over the weekend. If I can't get that to work very well (although it looks good so far) then out with the IR filter :) ______________________________________________________________________________________ AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.4 Ghz | 8GB DDR3 Dual Channel | Ati HD4850 XFX | 22" Samsung TFT & NEC 17" touchscreen
Mist3ri0 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) yep removing the IR filter is a must for ps3eye.i tried with IR filter too but there where way too many interferences to get constant tracking.take it out and put a piece of floppy disk in its place.you´ll be amazed by the difference it makes :pilotfly: just move the treshold slider a tiny bit and all you´ll get is 3 big-ass red spots without anything interfering^^ just to give you an impression of the tracking without IR filter: Edited May 27, 2011 by Mist3ri0

Mist3ri0 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 yes it´s like a RWR that detects stealth-CIA-killer-ninjas trying to sneak up on me while i´m flying
mig29 Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Is that Sam Fisher sitting in front of your computer with his night vision goggles on? It's not Sam Fisher but Mist3ri0 himself. Mist3ri0 is a splinter cell and he didn't realize it until then. :D
yonyz Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 So Splinter Cells are also proficient at flying then? :D
